Team 1675 was having some fun Saturday and we loaded a 10 foot tube up with 15 poofballs. We shot them all in about 4 adn a half seconds. Thats are record......whats yours? I'll try to get a video up soon.

we shot around 4 balls a second (16 balls over 4 seconds). I'm not on our manipulations team, but that's the fastest I saw it go. Mind you that the feeder fed the balls that quickly. On the robot, it can shoot about 10 balls in 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 seconds.

Re: How fast can your robot shoot?

That is definately the neatest looking robot I've seen this year. How did you guys get it to do that. It looks like you had a high torque motor and a surgical tubing rig. That looks really good, except how do you plan to get more balls into the feeder, are you going to bend some aluminum and make it like a slide of some sort?

Re: How fast can your robot shoot?

For all our balls to go the same distance, we need ~1/2 second between balls (might be slightly more now, gearing was changed). We figure with constant tracking this is fine though, especially since I don't see us storing 80 balls we need to launch at once.

Re: How fast can your robot shoot?

Oh, that's an easy question. Ours shoots as fast as the balls can get to the shooter.

Seriously, I'm not sure how many balls it can shoot in whatever time limit. What I do know, though, is that the tangential velocity of the shooting wheels is about 80 mph. The ball gets shot through the wheels at 60 mph (there's some slippage), then it goes through a vertical tube to our turret which slows it to more or less 28 mph.

You guessed right on how it works, but we are planning on using a hopper of sorts (hint: basketball) to allow human loading as well as a small ammount of onboard storage.

I don't know what rule you are talking about in particular, but the only rule we were concened about was about stored energy. This problem was eliminated as the surgical tubing pulls the arm back to the point of lowest energy.

That sounds very impressive. I would love to a video of it in action! How long is the delay between balls for accuracy; none?

Re: How fast can your robot shoot?

Our launcher can shoot as fast as we can load them also. Once we get to around the 10th or 11th ball, they start to shoot a bit shorter(the 15th ball we shot in the four second span hit the ground at 26 ft from the shooter). Also its very accurate. Good Luck to everyone and ill try to post some pictures or videos tomorrow.

I'm hoping we shoot balls under the speed limit.
It was spinnin' pretty darn fast the other night.

Re: How fast can your robot shoot?

I believe that our robot can shoot at least 10 balls per second, but we probably won't be doing that at the competition because well... it is very possible for BAMFR(our robot) to shoot 2 balls at the same time!

Re: How fast can your robot shoot?

on Friday we finally got our spiral integrated with our shooter. WE were pulsing the motors and got a ball per second. I believe that we shot two, waited one, shot two, etc. Id be interested to know a) how accurate that team that shot 15 in 4.5 seconds actually had and b) how much the distance was drastically changed. Loss of energy is not a good thing. Did those balls just flop out? Or did they shoot almost as well as the first one.

Re: How fast can your robot shoot?

Ours didnt chage very drastically between the first and 15th ball. The only change was maybe 5 feet so i think were in good shape. Especially since we have an almost fool proof spreadsheet made by out GE mentor. Good Stuff. I dont have it with me so I can't upload it, but it makes robots alot less complex.
