Re: Full Flash WebSite!!

In terms of usability and complying with web standards and being accessible to disabled people such as the blind, it is a failure.

Whenever you make a website, remember that not everyone who is going to use it will be like you. Always make websites that can be accessed through as many technologies and devices as possible.

Re: Full Flash WebSite!!

Good job in demonstrating ability to show off flash features. But in terms of design, it's a two thumbs down.

Some notes:

-The rescale-ability is nice. It works well. The first thing I thought to myself when I saw this page was "If I rescale this and scrollbars pop up, im going to do a homer simpson's "DOH!"" heh
-Once again, in terms of flash features, the rotating pictures/sponsors is a good demonstration, but for professional design (or just design's sake), it's distracting and an eyesore BUT interactive.
-The poker chip links are pretty sweet. Go along with the whole theme. But while I'm talking about theme, do you go to school in a casino? Might want to rethink that one. I see you go to school in Las Vegas, but how does this represent your school's colors / spirit?
-Love the calendar. I think it's an aspect of these type of sites that is a must.
-I find the "Things to Do in Las Vegas" pretty irrelevant...

Anyways, those are just some things that I would address. I hope you guys do well in the competition and hope your website scores well as well.

We'll we Did win the Las Vegas Regional last year and out robot right now for this year is looking very strong. The things to do in Las Vegas is for visiting teams, while there here to see what some local stuff to do. We do have alot more school spirit than is visible, Look on alot of our stuff, we have CMHS, cimarron-memorial, and we have our Spartan Head stuff on the coins and some other stuff if you look, its not really noticable 2 much but there is alot. Oh and Silver Maroon are our colors so .....yah, the banner and bottom banner used to be maroon 2 but we changed it to white because I wanted the website to be brighter. We have also tested it from differnt OS's like Mac ect, except linux cause its unusual, and I doubt the judges will be using it. The only issues there have been is browsers not having Flash 8 or access to the plug-in, thanks for the opinions and I would like to see your site as well!

Re: Full Flash WebSite!!

Having a website purely in FLASH is a bad idea. Granted, it adds that "whoa effect", but some users can not view flash, therefor detering people from being able to view your site. Also, a lot of people have non-broadband connections, in which case will have a slowed connection download time.

I personally can not critque this further, as I am using a live-boot of Ubuntu linux; I can not download/compile Flash.

I do suggest making an HTML version.
