Music types

Ok, in reading another thread I thought about this. On the old forums there was disscussion of what music people listen to, let's open that back up. I want to know what types of music you guys listen to most and what you absolutely cannot stand. I was gonna post this with a poll but after much thought decided not to because many people do not listen to one type of music only. Plus I'm just too lazy.

I like almost anything. My favorite is rock alternative. KoRn Rules!!! I grew up on country. 80's were cool. Like gangsta rap. I'll pretty much listen to anything EXCEPT any Boy Band, Brittany Smears, and all that junk. I just can't stand it. I about went psyco at KSC this year after the DJ played Brittany Smears every other song.

I'm into the stuff other people have never heard of..

Well..not really heard of, but never listen to. In other words..I like about any kind of music but jazz, techno, and Christian alternative are my favs. Classical is right up there, as well. I was raised on latin, smooth rock, and jazz..but I have friends who got me into techno and Christian alternative (never really knew it existed until a few short years ago). It's great stuff. The only stuff I can't stand is country or rap for long periods of time or anything with lyrics that I find offensive for any peroid of time. Pop music isn't my fav, but I still don't mind it all that much, long as it's "clean."

Anne Lam is an unknown quantity at this point
I love foreign bands: Ash, Pitchshifter, Autour du Lucie, the Sundays, Valerie Lemercier, Texas [despite the name they are from Scotland], Saint Etienne, Prodigy, Silverchair, et cetra...

I listen mainly to punk, indie, 80's and oldies...hate it when my friends play Spear Britney or N'stink in their cars. In which case, I just walk out at the first available stop light...

I am more into the pop/rock genre, which includes SOME of the music by the afformentioned boy bands, britney, etc.

Hip-hop is okay in light doses, but rap is crap. Classical & Jazz have their places, and they are okay. Even some oldies are good.

Hmm...I'll listen to just about anything really, with the exception of most country, and stuff I can't understand (ie some rap and heavy metal and stuff). I like songs better when I can understand what they're saying. Hmm...I like bands like Creed, Vertical Horizon, Savage Garden, and 80s music rocks! I love Disney songs šoš but coming from me, that shouldn't be a surprise. And I'm a sucker for love songs. That's the hopeless romantic in me.

Thumbs up ...

Good Music: Anything in the Christian genre (Christian rock being the only exception) and techno (No words, no disputes).

Bad Music: I don't hate any of the music genres, it just works out that I don't listen to any of them.

The music you love to hate. . .

I love most of the music that everyone else can't stand. . .

Now, I'm not speaking of the Backstreet Boys or Britney or anything like that. . .I'm talking about the really far out stuff. . .

In fact, it's so bizarre, I can't even think of some of it.

I've also been known to be a huge fan of any cover of anything. I love it when people reinterpret things their own unique way.

On a normal wave length, I love No Doubt and Aerosmith unconditionally. Everybody else needs to prove their listening worth to my ears.

Christina. . .anything I'm leaving out?

ok now you gotta realize that music is a huge part of my life...

so...

mostly im into alternative. punk and ska are great. expecially underground bands. once things get mainstream they tend to suck muchly.

otherwise ill listen to anything...literally...with the exception of boybands/britney spears crap. even with that exception i maintain that i liten to any music. because boy bands arent music. think about it: they dont play their music, they dont write their music. they dont write their lyrics. they sing them, but then their voices are electronicly altered in insane degrees. mostly all they do is dance and look pretty. imnsho, these jokes should have learned ballet or somethign which wouldnt assault and offend my ears.

Cool

I'm a southern chick trapped up north and right now especially I'm into a big country kick. Other than that, I listen to everything with, of course, a few exceptions.

I WILL NOT listen to rap or hip hop...in my world they are not even music (I assume I will start a riot with some people over that - did at my old high school including my latin teacher )

And of course, since I'm from Boston, I'm into the local scene, which for the moment tends to be punk/ska/emo based. Unfortunately some of my more favorite bands broke up....so my CDs are limited edition

rap and hip-hop are most definately music. no way around it lora. personally i dont generally listen to it, but if its on i think some of its kinda cool. but theres no way around it being music. every reason i listed for boy bands not being music doesnt work for rap. they do write their own music/lyrics. they do perform their own music. their voices arent altered. to be honest, i think it takes a lot more skill to rap then it does to sing punk/ska stuff. or at least to freestyle it does.

i remember a few months back when brittany smears got caught lip syncing at one of her concerts. if someone does that they obvously aren't singing. real singers write & sing their own music. They only reason that all those pop stars are popular is because people think that they may look
