are we allowed to control a window motor using a speed controller?

Are we allowed to use a speed controller to control the window motor? The power distribution diagram shows a window motor being controlled by a spike, but we need to be able to control its speed so we would need a speed controller.

Any motor can be attached to a speed controller, only select motors can be put on spikes.
