Re: Full Flash WebSite!!

Very impressive, I like it a lot. However, what has stopped many team sites from going all Flash is the load time required. Remember, some people still use dialup.

Wink Re: Full Flash WebSite!!

It's great, and i agree with that last comment, not everybody has highspeed. Also, I personally feel that there's not enough content on the site.

I think it looks great! How long did it take to get all of the flash parts completed, because it looks like it took a while.

Re: Full Flash WebSite!!

Wow, all the animation looks really nice in this website!

But I have one problem. Whenever I try to view this page in Firefox 1.5 (which is the browser I use about 95% of the time), only part of the Flash splash screen loads. I wouldn't mind if some of the superfluous animation stuff didn't work, but none of the navigation works. I cannot get beyond the splash screen whenever I use FF. Otherwise, it works fine when I tested it in Internet Explorer 7.

Re: Full Flash WebSite!!

I like the idea, in fact I wanted to do an all flash site. My only complaint is that some of the graphics look kinda half done. There jaggies on some, some are blurry, and on others, you can still see what you cut it out of (the dealer's hand is an example). If you clean that up, it'll be pretty sweet.

Re: Full Flash WebSite!!

I like all the ooh and ahhness but, and maybe it's me, I was looking for content. I like the team member pics but what about the robots and everything?!? I think content is what makes a site. That said you DO do a mean flash job, Congrats.

Ditto here. Can't view the page beyond the splash screen.

Maybe cool, but you're keeping some people out. (I'm on Linux, so I would have to run IE under WINE, which is significantly less than ideal...)

Re: Full Flash WebSite!!

Yeah, I can't get past the splash screen as well.
You should think about that when you out your site up for judging. If the judges can't access your page they can't reward it.
Best to leave a HTML alternative.

Also, Opera doesn't seem to like it. :shrugs: Can't get past the splash in that.

(And no, I don't actually use Opera, I was just checking compatibility...)

Re: Full Flash WebSite!!

In terms of usability and complying with web standards and being accessible to disabled people such as the blind, it is a failure.

Whenever you make a website, remember that not everyone who is going to use it will be like you. Always make websites that can be accessed through as many technologies and devices as possible.

Re: Full Flash WebSite!!

Good job in demonstrating ability to show off flash features. But in terms of design, it's a two thumbs down.

Some notes:

-The rescale-ability is nice. It works well. The first thing I thought to myself when I saw this page was "If I rescale this and scrollbars pop up, im going to do a homer simpson's "DOH!"" heh
-Once again, in terms of flash features, the rotating pictures/sponsors is a good demonstration, but for professional design (or just design's sake), it's distracting and an eyesore BUT interactive.
-The poker chip links are pretty sweet. Go along with the whole theme. But while I'm talking about theme, do you go to school in a casino? Might want to rethink that one. I see you go to school in Las Vegas, but how does this represent your school's colors / spirit?
-Love the calendar. I think it's an aspect of these type of sites that is a must.
-I find the "Things to Do in Las Vegas" pretty irrelevant...

Anyways, those are just some things that I would address. I hope you guys do well in the competition and hope your website scores well as well.

We'll we Did win the Las Vegas Regional last year and out robot right now for this year is looking very strong. The things to do in Las Vegas is for visiting teams, while there here to see what some local stuff to do. We do have alot more school spirit than is visible, Look on alot of our stuff, we have CMHS, cimarron-memorial, and we have our Spartan Head stuff on the coins and some other stuff if you look, its not really noticable 2 much but there is alot. Oh and Silver Maroon are our colors so .....yah, the banner and bottom banner used to be maroon 2 but we changed it to white because I wanted the website to be brighter. We have also tested it from differnt OS's like Mac ect, except linux cause its unusual, and I doubt the judges will be using it. The only issues there have been is browsers not having Flash 8 or access to the plug-in, thanks for the opinions and I would like to see your site as well!
