Wow, I'm impressed.

I assume its a 2 small CIM, 1 large CIM modified kit gearbox?

Yes, you would be correct in assuming that. As it stands we are more then competitive at half power. But when push comes to shove I doubt the drivers will hesitate to take BOB up to full power.

I wouldn't be so cocky. A 2 CIM + 1 Mini Bike/side drive train only ensures that you will not stall your wheels...

Looks nice. What type of wheels are you planning on using for your drivesystem?

As you can see from our other picture, located at:

http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pi...&quiet=Verbose

On on each side we have 3 powered wheels.

Front = Stock Wheel Chair Wheels.

Middle = Some wagon wheels that are wider and a little bit bigger then the wheel chair wheels are.

Back = Some Omni Wheels a member of our team as been trying to push off on us for about 2 years now, and they are about the same size as the wheel chair wheels are.

As for the comment made about us being cocky, I didn't mean to come off as such. After all, I haven't given you any numbers stating our pushing power/acceleration rate (nor to I intend to at this moment). Will there be bots faster then us? Probably. Will there be bots with more pushing power then us? Given from what I've seen, there will be a few.

Re: pic: BOB's Drivetrain

Sorry, My mistake.
I misread your original post.
I thoguht you said:
"Yes, you would be correct in assuming that. As it stands we are more then competitive at half power. But when push comes to shove I doubt other drivers will want to take BOB up to full power."

But you really said:
"Yes, you would be correct in assuming that. As it stands we are more then competitive at half power. But when push comes to shove I doubt the drivers will hesitate to take BOB up to full power."

Maybe I need some more sleep.

Sorry once again,
-Henry

I'm jealous...

How can you have enough wait to be using 4 CIMs, two CIMzillas (as we call it) and still have all of your components?

We've learned to make the most of what we have. We found that we could easily use smaller motors spin our shooter's wheels fast enough to fire a ball. And using pulleys we found ways to stretch the use of each motor not used in the drive train or shooting mechanism further. It takes year of practice. In our team’s case, 11 years now. Just keep thinking up inventive ways and your team can do the same.

A 6-CIM Drivetrain? Impressive. Look forward to seeing you at nationals! (assuming you are going...i'm too lazy to check the list of registered teams)

I'm the driver for this years BOB, and evidentily the same guy that's been pushing for omnis, go figure.

What Brian (Anubuss) was hinting at is that this drive train actually has so much power that I have to drive the robot at about half power (the values coming from the joysticks are divided by 2). When I want full power, I hit a trigger and the robot flys.

My limiting the power does not imply that we didn't try various power curves in the programing, but I found this to be the most suitable approach.

In fact I also have a trigger to cut power to about 1/4 (actually not power, the input values coming from the joystick are divided).

It has proven to be a very intuitive way to control our robot this year. And if you have the extra buttons, it's worth trying out.

As for pushing power, well, yea, we pushed last years robot sideways accross the carpet of our school leaving a 3 foot skid mark from BOB Seniors tired pneumatic wheels. I don't think the wheels skipped once on the
new robot, it has amazing traction. The wheels are 8 inch by about 1.5 inches pneumatic wheels.

I look forward to gracefully escorting other robots accross the field be it front on or sideways, lol.

Team 85 is registered for nationals this year, myself and the rest of the team look forward to working with you.

Only if 116 had allowed our mobility team to play with 6 motors instead of just the 4 old CIMs.....

Awesome looking system!

It will be changed often. Maybe more than the other teams, but still often.
