Cool Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

One of our ramping attempts looked a little like yours. Teams beware, watch that back wall!! At the Peachtree Scrimmage most bots made it up the ramp but not down. Good luck.

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

What I said: "If the robot gets flipped onto its back side, use the gate to get you back on the ramp."

What our gate operator heard: "Use the gate on the ramp."

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

At Winter War Zone, when I ramped the robot (usually at a fairly high velocity), the force of the robot hitting the back wall was enough to shake the entire alliance station quite violently. In one of our earlier matches, zip ties actually fell off the field!

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

The best part was when 1099 floored their bot at the top of the ramp right into rage. The bot was airborne for a few seconds which was pretty cool to see.

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

During our ramp climbing adventure, We almost took out the entire back wall of the ramp. Our driver decided to test the strength of the bot, and at the same time he tried to see if we had constructed a strong wall. It appears we did, although he snapped one of the supports holding it to the deck. Our robot went without damage.

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

We make it up if we go slowly with two spotters

When the not-normal driver was playing a round we fell onto our side when he didn't go up the ramp straight. Our program port on the RC doesn't work now XD We heard it was a defect, something about a bad solder joint, but if IFI decides it wasn't, then we need a new one.... -cry-

we can go up, and don't tip unless we're at a 45-50 degree angle...

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

We've built our robot to make sure we can go up the ramp without bottoming out. We don't have to go very fast but we slip off the ramp if we don't go fast enough, luckily we've incorporated brakes to make sure we don't climb back down the ramp if we're not totally on it.

We've posted pictures of the robot going up the ramp before. It was in the middle of the build season..

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

...Lets see some pictures or videos!!

Here are some shots of the robot runnng up a practice ramp forwards and backwards. The robot was later tested the finished robot with the diamond plate ramp and it seemed to work just as well. For fun we also tipped our ramp forward by lifting the back end creating a 40 degree ramp and a 30 degree to area and tried to drive up that from a dead stall. Unfortunatly we didn't get any pictures of that one.

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

i think that the robots that can make it up the ramp will make it to the final of the regionals/championship. what teams can make it up the ramp? what do you have that enables your robot to do the ramp?
