Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

...Lets see some pictures or videos!!

Here are some shots of the robot runnng up a practice ramp forwards and backwards. The robot was later tested the finished robot with the diamond plate ramp and it seemed to work just as well. For fun we also tipped our ramp forward by lifting the back end creating a 40 degree ramp and a 30 degree to area and tried to drive up that from a dead stall. Unfortunatly we didn't get any pictures of that one.

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

i think that the robots that can make it up the ramp will make it to the final of the regionals/championship. what teams can make it up the ramp? what do you have that enables your robot to do the ramp?

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

We tried the ramp for the first time at the CO scrimmage and we fell on our side and took the side of the ramp with us. Oh yeah, our robot has to be driven backwards up the ramp because of our ball-collector.

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

maybe i am wrong. i guess with 30 degrees and very little friction to grab onto i figured not many teams would me able to do the ramp. i also thought about how 6 wheel drive robots probably would not be able to do it easily because you would create a teeter-totter. am i wrong with my predictions?

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

We originally planned on going up the ramp, but for some reason our chassis ended up being wider than long. So, we tip either way...

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

we can go up and down the ramp and even score three's from the ramp! and like Greg said we really shake the alliance platform, one time we were accidentally in high gear and smashed our way up. you should have seen the look on the driver in the middle station . it was good enough for the news

we used the dimensions for width too. we can still climb. also down too. although we could use some suspension for that. dynamic brakes arent the best for that.

Careful design helps. We made sure that the weight was low and far enough back that we don't tip onto the top of the ramp until the middle wheels have gone over the edge. It works nicely for us

A low center of gravity and alot of driving skills along with how fast you go up the ramp...

Re: Ramp Climbing Adventures

The first time we tried to climb the ramp, our robot flew up the ramp, crashed THROUGH the rear wall on the ramp, and smashed into the back wall of our shop.

We spent the next thirty minutes picking all of the pieces.

Our robot can go up the ramp forwards and backwards. Its the coming off that's hard!
