2005 FRC vs. 2004 FRC

Are there any differences between the 2005 FRC and the 2004 FRC? That is, if I do the things FIRST tells me to do to upload the 2006 code on to the 2005 FRC controller, will that exact same code in the exact same way work on the 2004 FRC without any modifications? Is the only thing that is different between the two processors the label that says whether it is the 2005 or 2004 controller?

Re: 2005 FRC vs. 2004 FRC

They were shipped with different Master Code firmware versions, but those can be updated, I don't think there's any other difference. Nothing fundamental enough that the porting of the code should fail anyways, who knows what Doohickey IFI changed on the inside, they do have a different set of power connectors though. In my opinion the built on plastic backup battery connector and the screw terminals were superior to the 2005/2006 controller power connectors...

Re: 2005 FRC vs. 2004 FRC

Due to some problems we were having with the 2006 controller, we debugged and ran our bot on a 2004 controller for the last week and a half. Just follow the directions for compiling on the 2005 and it will work fine.
