That looks a lot like what I think the Killer Bees robot looks like....at least the hopper design, looks good. Do you have any way to herd balls to the human player? What if all the balls are on the field?

Yeah, I knew that HOT BOT was going to be a little less sweet than usual when I heard that lame rule against flop-bots. Kinda disappointing, but it looks solid nonetheless. 6 wheel drive, rock on!

Re: pic: 2006 HOTBOT

Hmmm good looking robot, but the shooter begs the question:
when does the ball truly leave a robot? If your shooting up at a rate higher of 12.5 m/s, Will it be still legal since its no longer making contact with the ball once its NOT at 12.5 m/s?

Now im sure 67 has already thought about this, but im just curious

We have thought of this. The ball will be shot, out of the wheels, at slightly higher than 12m/s. However, gravity and the drag of the arc will slow it down to 12m/s by the time the ball leaves the arc, which is when it leaves the robot.

Re: pic: 2006 HOTBOT

I will be happy to see this robot hitting 3 pointers.

I pitched the idea of low shooter wheels with a deflector to
3 teams... ...none of which thought there was much merit to the idea.

I thought is was simple & elegant.

Now let's see if it works at the Great Lakes Regional...

Speaking of the GLR (and forgive me for hi-jacking this thread), I can't wait to hear Vebrugge whipping up the GLR audience by showing his Regional Toughness Index:

...5 out of 24 Divisional Finalists & Winners...
...AND 4 out of 12 Regional Winners...
...AND 2 out of 3 Grand Champions...
...were at the GLR...

...I get a knot in my stomach just thinking about it...

...Let's get this season started....

Re: pic: 2006 HOTBOT

GLR will be awesome. I personally think its the toughest regional. The best of the best come here. 1023 is definitely looking into ranking high again this year. We have a really good autonomous mode, something we have been lacking in previous years, as well as a well built robot that is very capable of being a good scorer.

I say....LET THE GAME BEGIN!

As for the HOT Bot, it sure looks like some crazy engineering marvel you'd expect from 67. Despite the "anti flop bot rule" from FIRST, they have continued to amaze us with their designs. I wanna see how 1023 and 67 stack up against the competition.

Re: pic: 2006 HOTBOT

I love the design and I like the fact that its pretty simple if you put it all together,(or at least after you read Mr. Verdeyen's post.)

I think it's interesting the way you use the wheel at the bottom as a multi-purpose wheel.

Good Luck guys

Oh i get the concept alright, just wondering what FIRST Is going to say, I guess what im asking is what defines a muzzle so you can get muzzle velocity

Re: pic: 2006 HOTBOT

Without the falling over and the flames in the picture, it doesn't feel like the HOTBOT.

I've always has this thing about desiging robots and then they wind up winning

2001: Beast's loader from the ground
2002: 25's silver scorpion
2003: Wildstang's Wedgebot Idea
2004: 190's Haning and goal protecting
2005: Hot bot's falling over, pitchfork and articulating arm.

I draw them out in design phase and they look good, but no one on my team goes for them...personally I don't think 3 World Championships, a Divionsal Championship, and a really cool bot is all that bad.

This year 67 is almost what I wound up proposing...so I think they'll do well (granted, they'd do well even if I hadn't designed my bot similar to theirs.)
