Re: 2006 Championship Divisions

I'll raise my hand as the first to agree with Corey. We've only been to Nationals twice, but it seems we had a bunch of the same teams in our division each time. Maybe divisions could be arranged by a point system?

A regional participation gets you 1 point. Being one of the Top 8 teams is 2 points. Regional finalist is 3 points. Regional Winner is 5 points.

After all points are distributed, teams could be sorted the same way they are now, starting with the top ranked team and going down the list, assigned each team the next division. (In case of a tie in points, teams can be sorted by team number, or randomly.) This system would assure every division is fun to watch and compete in.

Exactly what Shaun and I were thinking. We discussed this last season too. I think if a lot of us put out a word for this FIRST will respond because this idea makes sense.

i agree 100% with you. I was just talking with a friend about something simlar to your idea. Your system is neater. My idea was to do it off one of your reagional rankings (seeding).

I love the idea Tom, but i doubt FIRST would do something as slightly complex as that is. They seem to like to take the simple ways. I also think alot of teams/individuals wouldn't agree with the ranking idea because sometimes teams get lucky or go to an easier regional or more regionals, and all sorts of things like that.
