Re: How fast can your robot shoot?

You guys do know that there is a velocity limit and from how fast you guys are shooting them you may be in violation.

Re: How fast can your robot shoot?

10balls in a matter of seconds? just wondering if it was moving less than 39m/s...like the rule states...at quincy, 1568 was maxing around 55m/s, we moved it down to 34m/s, now we have to work out some kinks with the low velocity

Re: How fast can your robot shoot?

There is a FIRST measuring system in place for ball velocity testing.

It's basically 2 sets of 2 sensors making a beam, and you shoot through the sensors, and break the beams, and it calculates your speed.

Be ready to be inspected to this criteria, and change your max speed before you even step onto a field to compete.

Just a friendly heads up!

Good luck to all shooting under the speed limit!

1. I have no answer for the inspection. The speed limit is in the manual.

2. It means FIRST is playing Nintendo with us.

were flirting with legal on velocity but we took it to a basketball game at our school tonight and shot freethrows and it works really well.

Re: How fast can your robot shoot?

Yeh i think our team is just a bit over max speed so we'll have to talk to the programmers. We're using a fatty cim (minibike) at full speed with no reductions. We're using nylon gears and chain, and there seems to be no loss of speed everytime we shoot. So any ideas on what to do?

Re: How fast can your robot shoot?

Does this thread imply "How fast are you able to shoot the balls", or is it "How fast are you able to shoot the balls accurately and reliably"?

If the former, 10 balls in a few seconds.

If the latter, 10 balls in 8 seconds.

Turn down the voltage with a spike.
