Re: What do you keep in your car?

There's a lot of stuff in ruphus (that's my car's name). Some would even venture to say that ruphus is messy. Anyway, the list...

1) Ice scaper
2) Deck of Uno cards
3) Lots of change, scattered everywhere
4) An overnight backpack (pajamas, change of clothes, toothbrush, toothpaste, and hairbrush)
5) A few packets of ketchup and a can of frosting
6) A hoodie or two
7) Notebooks and pencils (which I acuse my team of stealing when I can't find them)
8) Krispy Kreme hats and a few KK valentine's good for one free donut
9) A rainbow of sharpies
10) Various team buttons and give away's
11) A nalgene bottle
12) Proof of insurance, Instruction manual (at least I think it is, I never actually opened it), and Jumper cables
13) A K'nex crossbow
14) A handheld marshmellow catapult
15) DC/AC adapter
16) Lots and lots of safety glasses
17) A flashlight
18) chapstick
19) Goldfish and Cheerios
20) A pair of shoes
21) Random burned CD's, which got mixed up with my random data CD's, so half have music and half don't, and none are labeled
22) masking tape, duct tape, scotch tape, and scissors
23) iTrip
24) 2 Compasses (the directinoal kind and the circle drawing kind)
25) An orange fuzzy with safety goggles from team 470
26) bandaids, neosporin, mole skin, tweezers, nail clippers, allergy meds, and motrin
27) Much of the time - Various team members

Re: What do you keep in your car?

I took pics today and I have to do this in two posts since I can't attach more than 5 pics to a post.

The first two photos are of my Camry.

Back seat area:
gallon container of windshield washer fluid
new wiper blades I haven't put on yet
small snow shovel
tissue box
old newspapers
there's also a first aid kit and a 12v to 110v converter under the seats not visible

Trunk area:
tool box
Craftsman ratchet set (black case doesn't show up easily)
green kick ball (my team calls it the "watermelon ball")
green folding chair
jumper cables
rain poncho
yellow rope
3 extension cords
2 power strips
12v compressor
ice scraper
nerf football
waders (Northwest box)
extra tire iron (silver thing under the football, doesn't belong to the Camry)

Not pictured are two cans of spray ice deicer, another ice scraper, snow brush, glow sticks, assorted pens, paper, straws, and a pair of safety glasses on the dashboard.

Next three pics are of my Caprice wagon that I haven't driven since November:

Front seat area:
tissue box
sun shade (silver thing on passenger floor, this is a spare car so it sits most of the time)
broken off hood ornament (visible through the steering wheel laying on top of the hump. I have a replacement from eBAy but it's too cold to fix it now)

Cargo area:
new NAPA muffler (the current one is almost nonexistent, it's what happens when a car isn't driven regularly)
new muffler clamps (red boxes)
new tarps (the car was supposed to be put in storage for the winter but those plans feel through. The tarps were supposed to be on the floor of the rental space to protect the floor from any drips)

The drivers side well in the rear:
two blankets
quart of oil (the motor goes through some oil at 170k on the odometer)
rope
ratchet clamps
bungee cords
jumper cables
25' tape measure
roll of paper towels
"CAUTION" tape

Re: What do you keep in your car?

CONTINUED:

Caprice wagon 3rd seat foot well:
12v compressor
toolbox
there should be a small Craftsman ratchet set but it's not there

Also not pictured in the Caprice is a first aid kit, a tire gauge, many of those cards you get a funerals/wakes in the glove box (this car has been used for every funeral in my family), and a bell from when my cousin got married.

And now for the Mustang
lets start with the trunk:
toolbox
Craftsman ratchet set
many, many, many towels and rags (some of them are better than the one's in the house! )
dust brush
12v compressor
12v vacuum
folding chair (American flag)
Rubbermaid container with cleaning supplies, flash light, and transmission fluid
roll of paper towels
card board box with assorted stuff (antifreeze, pens, paper, picture album, original paperwork for the car, original dealer brochure, maps, funnel, cheeze cloth)
The thing to the right under the plaid cover is the spare tire.

and the last pic is the Ford bear I got that's almost the same color as the car. He stays buckeled in the back seat.

- a bag of de icing pellets that I keep forgetting to leave in the garage.
- I found a '96 Beatty Robotics baseball cap as well

Re: What do you keep in your car?

- an emergency roadside homemade kit (jumper cables, extra air filter, cigarette lighter mini-compressor, extra oil, etc.)
- extra windshield wiper fluid (my car has a HUGE tank)
- electrical tape
- loctite krazy glue
- napkins
- a copy of my insurance card, registration, etc.
- manuals that came with the car
- first aid kit
- fishing line
- two umbrellas
- ice scraper/snow brush
- giant Rand McNally US atlas (given to me by a random man at a gas station, coming home from the St. Louis Regional 2003)
- an Indiana highway map (I get a new free one every year from the State Fair, in the same building as the robot display)
- a hanger I keep forgetting to bring inside
- a CD visor
- a pair of sunglasses
- a parking pass (actually two for different areas of campus, robotics and non-robotics)
- leftover Taco Bell bag I can probably throw away
- spare change for meters
- a collection of random directions to random places that I've been before, in case I ever need to go there again
- radio transmitter for my iPod
- gum and breathmints

I guess I'm kind of boring. During robot season (especially around IRI) I basically have a trunk FULL of stuff and a backseat of random FIRST stuff I've thrown back there (safety glasses, pins and lanyards, clothing, etc.)

That is what consists of what is in my back (err, area where backseat is supposed to go). This consists of my turnout gear (I'm a volunteer firefighter, gotta have it), extrication gear, real work shirts, flashlight, bookbags, laptop computer, iPod, CD case, Dr. Pepper bottles, a sweatshirt, and a Carhartt jacket.

EDIT:
Oh yeah, theres 2 Team 845 shirts floating through there somewhere.
