Re: Well, Whats your job?

Ignoring a handful of office work I did for my parents, and the mildly illegal/unethical position of reacher participant in some hospital drug trials before I was 18 (the hospital paid me $50 every time I let them make me motion sick!), I've really only had one job.

For the past 6 years or so I've worked at a small local Science and nature toy store. The products are largely educational but all fun. I was lucky enough to find a job that wasn't degrading, paid well, and had a fantastic boss. Really, a young man couldn't have asked for a better high school job. It's carried me through high school and now college. Even better, the owner has been very kind to my team, like offering to buy poof balls this year for the local team at wholesale prices before poof offered that price to everyone.

I even met my wife while there!

Aside from the toy store, I still help out my mother with design and management of large drug trial databases. It's a little difficult to do when I'm not really allowed to see any of the data, but dems da rules. It may yet lead to a ride on the Vomit Comit (they need a healthy young man to run some test equipment to figure out how sick people get- no kidding) so I'm happy with it.

I hope to find a position in either the aerospace industry or toy industry. Odd mix, but both appeal to me. After years selling toys, I'd like to take a turn at making them!

I like to concider myself a professional card gamer, but I don't make enough to officially call it a job (usually $50-80 a week).

Now I work at Suncoast. I'm very happy there. I get to stand around and talk about movies with people all day.

Re: Well, Whats your job?

I am a High School Student and I work at Chick-Fil-A (for almost 2 years now). I mostly work in the kitchen cooking food or washing dishes but I sometimes work "out front" as us "back people" call it. Working at a fast food resturant does give you a new perspective. It isn't all that bad when you have cool managers .

Since I'm still a high school student, I only have a part time job working at a law firm doing filing/secretarial jobs and helping write amendments.

Re: Well, Whats your job?

Currently, I work in the Home Decor department of our local JoAnne Fabric store...it's cool cause sometimes I get stuff for our robot team...Over the holiday season I worked 30+ hours a week, and then during build I only worked 10 or so.

As for the summer, I'm trying to get an internship somewhere or something like that.

Re: Well, Whats your job?

It's not a paying job, but I volunteer at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia on the weekends or when I have free time. Pretty fun hanging around one of the oldest science museums in the US all day, as well as teaching people of all ages different aspects of science and technology. They also have a Segway that goes around, which hopefully I'll be able to drive soon. My job there is to be a science presenter, which is basically the person who explains to all the patrons what is going on with certain exhibits and explaining the science behind them.

If you have ever been to the Franklin Institute, I would be one of the people wearing the green shirt who run around every once in a while. A better example of what I do is that I would be one of the people who explains all the cool lesser known facts about the Baldwin 60000 locomotive in Railroad Hall. It was made it 1926, can pull 7000 tons, dragged 5 blocks in 5 days by two horses, donoted to Franklin Institute for a dollar (supposedly) in 1933...

I've spent way too much time in that place already...
