Re: 2006 NJ Regional

Thanks Shaun, but Mr. Cokeley does more for our team than I think he realizes. Mr. Cokeley really is a mentor, and a substitute parent for SO many of our team members. I could not imagine a better person to win this award.

I think 1089 is more proud to see our mentors and role models not only WIN the regional, but come home with the two awards they so justly deserve. Congratulations on winning Chairman's and Woodie Flowers! I can't wait to see you guys in Atlanta!

Congratulations to our rookies, 1807 on Rookie All Star! (see, it's all that influence from 25's mentoring that started this)
Thanks always to our alliance partners 381 (go BMS!) and 102!

Re: 2006 NJ Regional

First of all, congrats to 25, 103, 1279 on their win!
You guys played some awesome matches!

Next, congrats to all the teams on their respective awards, which I will not name in fear I will forget one.

The regional was great! I know I was covered in buttons and other such objects and lived in the mascot pit the whole time! Anyone who got down there experienced the amazing insanity!

I'm so happy my first regional experience was this positive of an experience to make me want to come back... especially to see all the friends I've made!

Thanks to all for making it such a great regional!!!

Re: 2006 NJ Regional

Thanks to everyone who made the 2006 NJ Regional such a great event. The competition was outstanding - especially on Saturday - as was the teams' spirit.
This was my first FIRST event as FTA (I was the guy trying to keep the field working) and you guys made it a really memorable one. I'd like to add my thanks to some of the people who kept things rolling and helped us work though the first week kinks:

Sarah, our good scoring fairy whose patience and deft touch kept scoring on track (the field only gave problems when I didn't listen to her!).

George, The Voice of NJ - I am still in awe that you were able to work "propane and propane accessories" into the play-by-play and make it fit!

Tom and John, our IFI heros from Texas, who helped us keep most of the magic smoke where it belongs (inside robots and field control).

John, our Field Manager - if it weren't for your whip-cracking we might still be there!

and Paul Kloberg - for letting me practice for next week's Pittsburgh regional on his field - hope you miss your field so much you follow it out there!

But mostly I'd like to thank all the teams who played so hard and fairly - it was a pleasure to watch!

Re: 2006 NJ Regional

Congrats to all at Trenton, I wish I could be there, but I was there in spirit! Some of you may have seen me up on the FIRST Alumni Presentation
Congrats to 25 for winning!

Also mad props to my homes Team 293, we had a lot of bad luck and our record did not show how well our robot was built. Our quality really got noticed for the playoffs, being picked 4th not to shabby. We got unlucky flipping over, hopefully that can be fixed. I can't wait to see the robot in person, all I get is pictures and videos from afar, and during the regional my experience was play by play from a cell phone

I will be at the Annapolis Regional! Getting to break into my mentoring shoes, hopefully Team 293 can kick it up a notch there!

Again congrats to all teams and I miss the truly unique experience that is the NJ regional!

Re: 2006 NJ Regional

There are many people I want to thank for making this competition so great. Thank you to Mike Wade for the machine shop, the field setup and take down crew so we could have fun on the field, Senior mentor Paul Kloberg for ensuring the smooth running of the competition. The field crew and IFI guys did an awesome job dealing with the minor problems on the field[although the problems were very irritating]. The referee and judging crew is one of the best I have seen in FIRST. Next I would like to thank our alliance partners 103 and 1279. It was a pleasure working with you guys. Last but not the least I would like to thank people on my team - Wayne Cokeley, Shaun, Bristol Myers guys(it would not be possible to create such an elegant machine without them), the pit crew, Scouting crew(I don't think we would have had 1279 on our list if it wasnt for the scouting crew recognizing their importance), the programmers and the drive team fellas(Corey and Vishal) for working well together. It has been a blast. Congratulations to all teams who won numerous awards at NJ. I was very happy to see our sister team 1089 win 2 awards this year - they totally earned it. Congratulations Mr. Cokeley for the WFA - you absolutely deserved it.
That's all for now.
-Bharat

Oh come on, you know you want to put up finals round 1 =P

I know you got it on camera xD

That's the round where brazil successfully messed up 25's autonomy.

Yep brazil did a great job of stopping our auto mode the first time. In fact it was the first time in the reagional we had to change our auto mode to counter it. Being behind in the first match was hard to over come but 1279 and 103 both came though and we were lucky to get away with a win. I think 375 team they put together could have won anywhere there a great team and i am sure they will keep us on our toes next year.

I didn't even think to tell Brazil that you'd change your autonomy, I think we were too 'in the moment' as it were.

Did you already have an autonomous mode that changed your position to that or did you quickly write one and load it onto it in the 6 minute interval?

ahh! i missed it!

George was in our pit yesterday morning and showed us the list of things he had to work into his play-by-play... I only caught one of them. something about a team chasing after another team like they were on a pig hunt or something.

I'm really curious, how DID he work that into his play-by-play? I'm kinda disappointed that i either was in the pit when he said it, or didn't catch it.

Thanks so much to everyone who made the regional possible, it was a blast!

and a special thanks to George for flipping for our team:-D Too bad you can't be in SC with us, enjoy Philly!

we have 8 to choose from but did not want to play around since thursday we were still working out a few problems. Our next regional we will have couple different ones to run since i have a feeling the defence in auto is going to pick up as the weeks progress.
