Re: FIRST Milage

I put together a small list of my travels, not including what must be no less than 1000 miles travelling locally to stores, sponsors, and many other locations. Has anyone topped my number (I'm pretty sure a large number - more than likely the Senior Mentors - have)?

#xPlace: Dist(Round Trip) Total
1xNJ Regional: 35(70) 70
3xNYC Regional: 20(40) 120
1xPhoenix Regional: 2200(4400) 4400
1xOrlando Championship: 1100(2200) 2200
1xHouston Championship: 1400(2800) 2800
2xAtlanta Championship: 750(1500) 3000
1xBrazil!!: 4820(9640) 9640

TOTAL: 22230 Miles!!!

Re: FIRST Milage

Lessee...(not all of this was driven, mind you):

Since Championship 2005:

Driving back and forth to 1293's home base: 23.6 mi * 80 trips (low estimate) = 1416 miles
Capital Clash (flying, but who cares?): 968 miles
FVC Orangeburg: 83.6 miles
Florida Regional: 1,112 miles + 260 miles = 1,372 miles
Peachtree Regional: 446 miles

2005 and earlier:

Manchester Kickoff 2005: 1956 miles (flown, thankfully)
Championship 2004: 426 miles
Championship 2005: 426 miles
Robot Rodeo 2004: 858 miles
Florida Regional 2005: 858 miles
2005 trips to 1293land: 1416 miles

Grand Total: 10,225.6 miles (!)
Billfred-Driven Grand Total: 5,337.6 miles

(Man, maybe I should apply for a gas rewards credit card after all. )

Re: FIRST Milage

Wow.. I need to really sit down and look at this.

Now, would you count flights with the team, and charted bus trips as well, or just things I drove to?

I'll calculate both one of these days, but seeing as I've been in FIRST since 2001, I'm sure it's plenty.

From my best calculations, that would be an additional 4500 miles or more, all driven, based on the things I remember from the top of my head. Total, that would give me around ~25860 miles altogether, with ~17380 driven. It should also be noted that I have burnt through one vehicle and am currently almost through my second.

Re: FIRST Milage

OK, it took me a while to look up all of these, but here are the ones that I can remember and document. There are probably a few that I have forgotten. Like Amanda, this list does not include local demonstrations, workshops, team functions, or team meetings, which would add up to some other absurd number of miles. All mileage is based on air and/or road miles from Herndon, VA:

Regional Competitions:
Annapolis Regional (2005, 2004, 2003) @ 135 miles each = 405 miles
Buckeye Regional (2002) @ 576 miles each = 576 miles
Denver Regional (2005, 2003) @ 2904 miles each = 5808 miles
Houston Regional (2001, 1998) @ 2380 miles each = 4760 miles
Las Vegas Regaional (2005) @ 4132 miles each = 4132 miles
Los Angeles Regional (2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001) @ 4576 miles each = 27456 miles
Peachtree Regional (2006, 2003) @ 1066 miles each = 2132 miles
Philadelphia Regional (1999) @ 320 miles each = 320 miles
Phoenix Regional (2006) @ 3912 miles each = 3912 miles
Richmond Regional (2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000) @ 252 miles each = 1764 miles
Rutgers Regional (1998) @ 450 miles each = 450 miles
San Jose Regional (2004, 2000, 1999) @ 4838 miles each = 14514 miles
St Louis Regional (2005) @ 1392 miles each = 1392 miles

Kick-off&Championship Competitions:
Manchester Kick-off (2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997) @ 836* miles each = 14452 miles
Atlanta Championships (2005, 2004) @ 1066 miles each = 2132 miles
Houston Championships (2003) @ 2380 miles each = 2380 miles
Orlando Championships (2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996) @ 1516 miles each = 10612 miles

Off-season Events:

Los Angeles Scrimmage (2003, 2000) @ 4576 miles each = 9152 miles
Richmond Va Scrimmage (2000) @ 252 miles each = 252 miles
San Jose Scrimmage (2004, 1999) @ 4838 miles each = 9676 miles

Dave, while I'm awed by your mileage that eclipses my own a dozen times over, I think you might be a little off--the Houston Championship was in 2003. Assuming you went to the 2002 Championship, your mileages would grow by about 450 miles (deduct one Atlanta Championship, add one Orlando Championship) for an even 148,000 miles.

Yup. Corrected, including the addition error (so it isn't really an even 148,000 miles - yet Just wait until I can add in the Championship, IRI, Captial Clash and Summer Frenzy from 2006!). I will blame a faulty memory (mine).
