Clarification on Pinning
I cannot speak officially on this matter, but I will provide a clarification based on my understanding of how pinning will be called. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS REGARDING THE PINNING RULE (OR ANY OTHER RULES) PLEASE ASK THE HEAD REFEREE AT YOUR EVENT DURING THE DRIVER'S MEETING OR AT ANY OTHER BREAK IN ACTION.
Regarding the previous discussion and example of pinning in the area of the platform/ramp, pushing a robot up against the ramp portion of the platform is NOT considered pinning as they could go up the ramp to escape the pin. For pinning to be called the pinned robot must be held in contact with the alliance station walls (except while on the platform), the field border, or the outside or front edges of the platform sidewalls, for 10 seconds, as specified in rule <G24>.
Feel free to discuss this issue here but please understand that any official ruling/explanation will only be in the form of an official rule modification or team update issued by FIRST, or response from a referee (preferably the head ref) at your event.
