Re: Feeder Robots

we did, i guess. We made a bin basically with lexan and pvc. The roller pushes the balls in there. We have a ramp making up one of the sides, and that ramp gets pushed up with a big pneumatic piston. That piston, when it goes us, causes all the balls to get pushed up to the shooter, well when the ramp is up, the balls roll down to the shooter. So, we have an integrated scooper, shooter, and human loading bin if thats what you were asking. Ill try to get pictures, but the pictures i have been able to get from a couple of people on my team are blurry and from the stands at AZ regional. But we do have a fully integrated robot that can do a lot.

Re: Feeder Robots

We have discussed this scenario also. We feed from the front and shoot out the back. The thought could be we unload all 20 balls from our hopper and then receive balls from another team that has low goal capability.

We have never tried it, but would like to maybe in a practice round just to see.

Our robots look like this.

Re: Feeder Robots

We considered running a strategy with 195 during the qualifiers where they were backbot, picked up a lot of balls, dumped them out into our harvesting mechanism, and then played defense for us while we shot.

Unfortunately, we only had one match together and we needed to concentrate on winning it more than try out a cool strategy.

But it would have been sweet.

Your pit was right next to ours in AZ, and I really liked your bot. Good Job guys.

Re: Feeder Robots

Thanks. We didnt get to make it cooler, the white board on the front, we write stuff on it, but i dont think we did at Arizona. In LA in 4 days we will, try to distract opponents with written messages. lol. Yeah. thanks again. I liked you robot. I just like the idea of swiss cheese. Pretty cool and sturdy robot you have. I didnt get to see to many matches as i was in the FIRST Aid Station my team runs, but i did see your robot when i did pit calls when helping other teams. That was definatly the most fun regional i have been to in my two years in FIRST! Well, good luck, sorry for going off topic.

Re: Feeder Robots

Early in the design phase (around week 1-2) i started a dicussion about this, mainly to try create some sort of standard for hoppers so this strategy can be widely used. Too many teams seemed to have vastly different or "secret" hopper designs so we actually ended up dropping the idea.
