Yes they still have to pay. But it is well worth it. Your experience their is well worth the money and time missed from school if you have to.

I believe you only pay $5000 to attend Nats.

Re: Questions about Championship

Hi...

Yes I think its 5,000 but it is well worth it...way,way more than a regional.
We went last year and are going again this year...besides the competition
there are workshops on robotics,Vex and FLL championships.
Then there is the after event socials and stuff to do in Atlanta itself.
Its something you'll always remember.

A word of advice...don''t hang around downtown atlanta by yourself...
go in groups and don't go out very late...the downtown changes
after dark.

Haha! Well what he says is true, but just as true for any big city, Atlanta is no exeption. I don't think Atlanta is particulary bad afternight, no worse than my native Seattle.

Used Magellen GPS on ebay: $85

not having 50 people wait for an hour for your bus driver to find his way back? Priceless!

Re: Questions about Championship

Remember the basics for navigating atlanta...
1) Everything meets with Peachtree in some way shape or form
2) Directions based on a turn at the 'waffle house' are useless
3) Never drive on the highway between 6am and 9am or 4pm and 7pm due to traffic

Seriously though, jus check out the locations in relation to the georgia dome and how to get around using west peachtree/spring st/peachtree and ponce de leon. All of those get to the dome, besides the location of all the hotels is pretty good with a lot to do.

Re: Questions about Championship

If you can see the Omni, your in pretty good shape. That or the Westin. It's the best advice I can give for navigating downtown Atlanta.

229

Slightly off topic, but: 229 seems to be on it's way to Atlanta yet again. We apparently got the money to go and are on the registered team list. I personally can't wait to get there. It's always great competition and great fun.

ERM: its not that bad compared to NY after dark, up a;ll sorts of weirdos and creatures pop out of all the nooks and cranies where as in atlanta they do it much more civilized and chase you for a block and a half and then give up and go to stalk someone else =)

Behind the Westin Hotel theres a Hooters and a Mc Donalds <---- 24HR Spot =) found out the last day right before I checked out that it actually exsisted how sad was that after all the nights me and my sister starved excellent view if you stay on the top floors of the Omni , CNN Building and the georgia dome !
