Finalist Banners?

I tried to search the forums for an answer to this, but I could not find one that was exact.

Does any one if FIRST gives Finalist banners at the regionals? For some reason teams did not get their banners at the Florida Regional this year, and I could not remember if finalist teams got one as well.

Thanks for the help!

The only teams that get banners are: Winners, Chairman's Award, and Engineering Inspiration.

Re: Finalist Banners?

I don't think so. I believe the only banners that FIRST gives out at awards time are for the following.

(All apply to both Regionals & Championships btw)

Event Winner
&
Chairman's Award

I thought so too for Engineering Inspiration, but I just asked a member of the winner of BAE this year, and they did not get one as far as she knew.

Anyone know if they were supposed to in actuality?
They did get a trip to Dean's house though. So.. I think that makes up for it.

I've seen Engineering Inspiration in at least one team's pit.

Thanks for your help; I wasn't sure because when I search I found a post from Team 180 that said they had a Finalist Banner from the Championship event.

Thanks for your help

Aww man.. actually.. Maybe Championship event is a bit different. Maybe you get a banner for winning your little part of the Championship event aka: Divisional Winner?

Could be, but team 180 was the finalist for the entire championship, not their regional. Maybe this is just something they do at the championhip event.

Yes. Divisional winners get a banner. I'm not sure about National Finalist.

Try in the past. They may have done this in past years, but I'm not sure they are doing it now. Anyone from 254, 64, or 56 want to give us insight for last year?

Re: Finalist Banners?

Bear in mind that FIRST lets teams order custom banners for other things (awards such as DaimlerChrysler Team Spirit, competing in a season, or simply duplicates of banners already received).

Chairman's and Champions (both regional and national) get banners for sure. Division champions in Atlanta get banners, but I don't think I've seen a national finalist banner. I want to say that finalist gets a banner, but I can't say that with 100% certainty.

Re: Finalist Banners?

Having been both regional finalists(02,04,05), regional winners(02, 05), championship divisional finalists(03), and Championship Division(02) and Event winner(02), I can say that we have never gotten a banner for finalist. We have only gotten banners for regional wins as well as the Divisional and Championship win. As has been previously stated you can get banners made up from FIRST, I just don't remember the details or if they are still doing that even.

Edit- The finalist banner above was probably one of the ones made up by the team. We were finalists at the UTC NER in 2004 and did not recieve a finalist banner.

Yeah, we were finalists with 138 that year and I don't recall us having one. (What do I know, who knows where on earth our banners are) But I think the only awards that have banners are event winners and Chairmans award winners.

Re: Finalist Banners?

Seems like there has to have been a point where the distribution of certain banners started/stopped, teams that I saw win engineering inspiration at regionals this year didn't seem to get banners, but apaprently there used to be banners for this along with regional finalist? I wonder also if there were ever years where some regionals gave out certain banners and others didn't o_O At any rate, it's not the banner that counts
