Sarcasm Button

I would like to start working towards a solution to the need for a "sarcasm button". How can we make this happen?

Create a button that wraps [SARCASM] tags (similar to the [quote] button)? How do other forums solve this issue?

Thanks, I've seen this mentioned so many times that we might as well do something about it, especially as we get closer to Atlanta.

Re: Sarcasm Button

I am naturally a sarcastic person, and I have spent more than 20 years trying to stop. There is nothing fun in sarcasm, nothing kind, nothing friendly, and nothing helpful. Sarcasm does not require intelligence -- in fact, it is the idiot's version of wit. Creating a "sarcasm tag" would be condoning writing that is inherently inimical to what FIRST stands for. Join me in taking the sarcasm pledge, "I am a sarcastic person, and I regret it. I am taking responsibility for my own sarcasm. Today I will not be sarcastic in either writing or in person." Rather than flagging sarcasm, I would heartily endorse authorizing the Forum moderators to delete sarcasm.

This is not some double-twisting-sarcastic-post-in-the-pike-position either. I am deadly serious about this. Sarcasm has cost me a lot in my life, and I strongly encourage you utes to eschew it.

Re: Sarcasm Button

Believe me, this is something I've wanted to see for quite a bit- even though I haven't been an active poster recently.

I recall at least two older threads adressing this topic on some tangent:

Re: Sarcasm Button

I see it more as "we're wasting time and energy in dealing with posts that are meant to be joking that people take seriously, so let's see if this helps". I wouldn't want it to turn into something adamently followed, but just an option to make sure we spend our energy where it's needed most.

PS - Hmm, didn't see those posts when I searched. Thanks for finding them, I knew we had a conversation about this before!
