[I REALIZE THERE ARE PROBLY THREADS ABOUT THIS BUT I DONT HAVE TIME TO SEARCH FOR THEM, so im sorry if i inconvenience anyone]

Ok we are trying to get our CMU cam running from last years RC to replace our cam from last year that is on our bot now (its just a pretty peice of harware, doesnt work, we want to replace it with a working one for the vegas regional) but i always get the error, "The application is closing because of a reported error. You should confirm that the correct serial port has been selected. You should confirm that the camera has power and is connected to the PC via serial cable." i have the cam hooked up to PWM 13, and the tilt is on PWM 12, and the pan is on PWM 11, i also have the cam hooked up with its TTL port to the RC , and i have looked all over the wireing and programming and i am really stuck and have no idea what do do now, i have also gotten the Error #7 b4 and i think i fixed that part of it but i still cant seem to have labview see my cam, PLEASE, SOMEONE, CAN YOU HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!

ps- last resort = basball bat to cam and laptop

Re: HELP!!!!!! LABVIEW IS MAKING ME MAD!!!!

You might want to take a lot at these PDFs that we created for user manual and to show the wiring for the CMUcam2 for the LabVIEW interface.

You can use the RC to provide power for the camera and drive the pan/tilt servos if you'd like but you can't simultaneously attach the RS232 cable to the camera from the PC and the TTL serial cable to the RC (the CMUcam2 won't know "who" to talk to). When using the LabVIEW app, you should only have the RS232 cable between the PC and the CMUcam2.

You should also confirm that you've downloaded and installed NI-VISA. The directions are included in the attached user manual.

That should get you going. Let me know if you need anything else.

Good Luck,
Russ

Sorry to be so obvious, but have you verified that the serial port on the computer that is speaking to the camera is the same as what is configured in the doftware?
Also, have you verified the camera is powered up?

Either of those being wrong will cause that error message.

Don
