Re: What to do with all these poof balls?

One of our balls ripped, so we hollowed it out, stuffed a t-shirt in it and duct taped the opening. We're going to run it through the shooter after our 2nd regional. Let's just say that wadded up t-shirts have a little more mass than a poof ball

Re: What to do with all these poof balls?

Team 75 will be donating all of our poof balls to a day care center. Our advisor is a teacher at the local center and sshe says her kids would love them.

We had a few dodgeball games over the 6 weeks. And I'm sure we will have another.

Re: What to do with all these poof balls?

we will probably be shooting them into the crowd at the Memorial day parade. This gives us great exposure to our community and shows our neighbors some of the things required to compete this year. Last year we drove our robot for the entire length of the parade route ( about 2 miles), using three 9 v batteries to power the OI and 3 batteries for the bot itself. It was really cool and has helped us out with community outreach programs and public awareness campaign. We will also be letting anybody drive our robot and shoot for a prize at our 4th of July celebration (about 12000 people attend), and ask for a donation.

Re: What to do with all these poof balls?

We were thinking of removing the camera tracking and allowing people to try to shoot the ball into the 30" hoop and if they do then they get something.

You know, a little publicity thing.

Re: What to do with all these poof balls?

Most of ours are in pretty good shape and someone mentioned donating them to the local daycare center. If not, they could be used for gym...or we'll keep them for testing in future years.

I still have a ball (though it needs to be inflated) from 2004. Kickball anyone?

Re: What to do with all these poof balls?

believe it or not after field setup on wednesday as well as testing the field at nyc regional we had a few massive dodge ball contests (imagine 80 poofs just soaring through the air) needless to say no one won =) how can anyone win with 80 poof balls flying at one another =).

Re: What to do with all these poof balls?

Here's a thought:

Have all of the students on the team sign poof-balls with "FIRST 2006: Aim High! Team xxxx" prominently written on the ball. Personalize them for the sponsors, teachers, mentors, etc. and present them at the end of the season. I think this would be a nice "thank you" gesture to the people who donated their personal time, energy and $$ to make this happen.

If your team has a large supply of poof-balls, you can sign them with your team name and individually autograph them to exchange in Atlanta. Otherwise, please donate them to pre-schools, daycare, shelters, etc. for children who aren't so fortunate.

Re: What to do with all these poof balls?

I'd say draw on them. That always leads to good fun.

Or have a contest to see who can hold the most at once.

Re: What to do with all these poof balls?

If they are in good shape, regardless of whether or not your team has marked them, you can always donate them to a local grade school - they are always looking for new or at least gently used playground supplies.

We already made angry ball by drawing on poofs. Plus a lot of other teams already have ones.

Also, Ogre (Jeff Rodriguez)held 20 Balls, and Jeff Prague managed 18.

Get all of your team members to sign a few, and give them to mentors, sponsors, etc. Thats wat we're doing at least.
I am going to get one signed by the whole team as well, and hang it up in my room somewhere.
Other than that....DODGEBALL!!!!!!!!!!!
