Re: 2006 Boston Regional
Congratulations to 233, 121, and 1568. 233 and 121 were just amazing to watch as they did not give the scoring system a chance to rest.
Congratulations to team 383 for winning the chairmans award. See you in Atlanta. 233, you guys are a lot of fun to hang out with. The boxing matches were great and it really inspired a lot of our students. We had a lot of fun hanging out with you and 75 in the hotel. Thank you 467 and 88 for picking us! Congratulations to everyone!!! GO 1403!!! |

Re: 2006 Boston Regional
This was my first FIRST event, and I was totally impressed by the entire spectacle. It far exceeded my expectations.
Congratulations to all the winners! Special congratulations to my good friend Mark Holthouse and Team 1757 for the top rookie team finish. |

Re: 2006 Boston Regional
I would first like to say that the organizers and volunteers at the Boston Regional did a phenomenal job. It was as if this regional had been conducted for many years. Also, the refs, judges, and speakers all did an excellent job!
I would like to thank team 1685 and 1592 for doing a great job in the elimination rounds. It was a pleasure working with all of you. Lastly, I would like to congratulate the winning alliance. Your teams played a great game and your robots were very impressive. Great job, you deserve the gold medal! |

I think we had the only biodegradable robot in the event! Oh yeah, it wasn't my idea to add the "1" and "7" on either end of your big 75 in the stands, but I thought it was pretty funny. ![]() Thanks again to our alliance partners, teams 571 and 1100 - boy, I showed Blair with my memory skills. After playing defense against 1100 for 3 straight mathces on Saturday, we had to be allied with them at least once. It's too bad we drew the number one seed, but I think we put up a pretty good fight - not everyone can be George Mason. The highlight of the quarterfinals was pinning 233 in autonomous, though 121 ruined our fun by scoring anyway. Oh, and I'll apologize for my driver for running over the Mechanicats in the final seconds of the match!I know I have more to say about the whole experience, I'll be back later! |

Re: 2006 Boston Regional
I have to start by saying this was an amazing regional and by far the best i have been too yet. Also I wanna thank teams 233 and 1568. 233 you guys were amazing shooters and did a great job. 1568 you guys played some of the best defense i have seen and i hope to be seeing you guys next year.
I also want to thank the refs and volunteers for giving up their time to help make this regional such a great one. Last edited by Matt Shea : 27-03-2006 at 20:32. |

Re: 2006 Boston Regional
The most exciting part of the competition for our team came during our final round when we got our robot on the ramp without needing anyone to push us since we had always contemplated the idea of adding a little more clearance space on the bottom of the bot and lo-and-behold it worked during our final showing. Although we knew we had jsut been eliminated from the competition, we were all cheering at our accomplishment.

Re: 2006 Boston Regional
What a great time in Boston. Our MC Blair made the mistake of forgetting to announce Rhode Island on Friday. Both hotel rides up on Friday left me face to face with him and I let him have it
. With an apology on Saturday, both Rhode Island teams (1568 & 121) performed seamlessly with 233 for amazing elimination rounds. Big thanks to all who helped us create a great machine and also thanks to our partners 233 & 1568. There is a good chance we will defend our title in Boston next year. |

Re: 2006 Boston Regional
Boston was amazing. Thanks to everyone who made the regional truly memorable, with all of its firsts (no pun intended), including but not limited to Blair in the Zamboni and the "fire drill". It was great to meet Woodie and Dean, and it was great to meet so many amazing people on amazing teams... this was truly memorable.
but what i wanted to mostly give kudos to everyone there was the sportsmanship. I've been to about... -counts on fingers- ten or so competitions over the past five years (i was a tag-along for the first two) and in all of the competitions i've been too--with Championship Events at both Epcot and Atlanta included--i have never been to a competition with such nice people. Just because FIRST is all about GP and teamwork and sportsmanship, that doesnt mean that all teams behave as they are expected to at all times. It was a wonderful relief when not only our team, but other teams as well, were embraced and respected by our peers. There was seamless positive attitude and energy at the venue--in the stands, in the pits, and everywhere inbetween--that was unique to Boston, and i hope to find it at many more regionals to come. ![]() |

Our team has tons of photos if you want to browse through them: http://rollingthunder.smugmug.com/gallery/1108508. I'm the goofy adult mentor in the camo tux jacket (yes, I made it myself...I'm an electrical engineer...and engineers can do ANYTHING!) We loved watching the other teams in the finals since we got beaten at the buzzer in the quarter-finals....sigh! But, we won the "Imagery" award for all our hard-to-see red camouflague motif. The public on Commonwealth ave at the lunch spots were a bit scared to see all of us coming at them.....and that doesn't include you all in bright pink either! |
