Re: Team News Paper Articles

Well, we've had quite a few news stories, almost all of which had our president's name mispelled. It was really quite funny: he now answers to "Thomas Broden"

The only newspaper I ever remember being featured in was last year, after the Nats [published May 4th]. It seemed pretty accurate -- I have the article somewhere in my room [spent the last hour trying to find it, wasn't able to] but I can't find it to I'm just going to post a link to part of the article:

http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/insideto...k+on+the+world

It seemed pretty accurate -- it was our first ever major publication -- listed how we'd placed 5th of 85 in the Galileo Divison [top seeded Canadian team in the history of the championships to date, apr 23-25 2005] and how we'd only managed to make it to the GTR/Canadian Regional prior to.

Other publication we've received are twice a year through our school newspaper and every year in the yearbook.

Re: Team News Paper Articles

Last year we were featured in the State News, the Grand Ledge paper, Focal Point and the local ABC station.

This year I have been asked (I'm a journalism major) to do a story for the Lansing State Journal which hopefully I will finish soon. I anticipate that being pretty accurate...

Our team has been in multiple newspaper articles including being on the front page. We just got interviewed by a lady from the Hartford Current and have been noticed in our town journals for our scrimmage and accomplishments at our regionals.

Re: Team News Paper Articles

well one of our articles was on the front page... its kind of sad they didn't have anything better to write about, they also said our robot was 29 feet by 30 feet by 5 feet... i guess it never occurred to them something that big would not fit in the warehouse.

Team 116 has, over the years, been in tons of publications including:
PTA Newsletters
"The Stinger" (HHS newspaper)
The Herndon Observer
The Herndon Connection
The Herndon Times
The Fairfax Connection
The Washington Post
Red Apple 21 (Fairfax County Public Schools channel)
NBC4 (Regional)
NASA TV
A&E's "The Competition" (hour long national special along with Team 388)

We are currently working on appearing in at least having 4 more newspaper articles about our 2006 effort, and possibly a NASA TV special.

See the NEMO White Paper "FIRST Publicity Manual" for some great ideas put together by team mentors. Also, "Creating a Killer Team Packet" talks about how to produce a professional packet to give to potential sponsors.
(Search for "NEMO" in the CD-Media Papers section for more white papers that might be of interest).

Team 213 received coverage in our local newspaper, The Keene Sentinel, after we finished as finalists in Boston this year. It was a decent length and got the facts it stated right.
