Team 549 scored 32 single points at one time at the Boston Regional. It took a while to load up but once we went to the goal to unload we just watched the counter go up!

Re: Pure Shooters -- 2006 Hall of Fame
I'd like to echo what has been said of 148. Their shooter was excellent, and always provided for an interesting match. However, I think the best thing was how quickly they were able to make repairs after the first semi-final. Anyone watching LSR could see that their intake roller broke off along with a few other pieces. They were able to repair the roller and their funnel to the shooter in the few minutes before their second semi-final match. Very impressive.

Re: Pure Shooters -- 2006 Hall of Fame
I'd like to second the poofs (254) and raider robotix (25). We had the pleasure of watching the poofs play in SVR, and being in an alliance with team 25 in the Vegas regional, and I was really impressed by their scoring mechanism. 987 also come really close, with a great roller and very effective scoring.

Hey thanks for the nod I didn't think we were all that note-worthy as a force in this year's game. My own personal list of "shooters" seen first hand:254 1280 852 1351 Those really stand out in my mind. |

Watching your bot pop 3's from the side of the ramp with nothing we could do about it, rates in my book as well. |

Re: Pure Shooters -- 2006 Hall of Fame
I am surprised that no one has mentioned 1126. They had an amazing shooter in Finger Lakes and a very effective ball pickup system. When they got everything worked out they would sink 9-10 balls in autonomous and could shoot from quite a distance away. They would also shoot extremely fast, I think their were times where they would have about 5 balls in the air at once.

Re: Pure Shooters -- 2006 Hall of Fame
This may be a bit biased but watch match 8 from the Palmetto. In that match we, team 343 Metal in Motion, spent the second and third periods collecting and then with 20 seconds left ( and the real time scoring showing us ahead 16 to 9) unloaded. The Real time scoring system showed our final score as 115 but the actual score was 94, the high score of the regional until the eliminations.

Re: Pure Shooters -- 2006 Hall of Fame
Here is my top 10 shooters of this year.
1.) 1114 - The drive team is great. They work together really well and they adapt to situtations on the field almost flawlessly. And when they line up its hard to stop them from unloading 8 - 10 balls in the goal 2.) 25 - You really can't defend against them, just don't give them any balls. And with a seasoned driver like Corey at the sticks it makes it even harder. 3.) 111 - These guys are always amazing. This is for shooters and they can shoot. But all around they have what it takes. 4.) 494 - They may have a twin out thier but this is the real deal. Thier is just something about this team that makes you want to keep them close when you are against them. 5.) 254 - If they are on the ramp, you are in trouble. And even when they aren't watch out for the shooting from anywhere. 6.) 217 - Match up a great turret and shooter with a solid drive train and you have a heck of a robot. You give these guys 10 balls and let them get set up your going to be sorry. 7.) 233 - Thier turret is pretty solid. And the drivers know what they are doing. 8.) 121 - Turret, Drivetrain, Rhode Warriors. Need I say much more. They will get to where they need to be no matter what and unload. 9.) 1503 - Many people put this triplet higher but I don't think thier drive team is there yet. But thier robot is very lethal none the less. 10.)703 - These guys can be defended against but if they get on that ramp your going to see thier score go up pretty quick Last edited by Tim Delles : 03-04-2006 at 19:05. |

Re: Pure Shooters -- 2006 Hall of Fame
I hope 365 was mentioned. If they get on the ramp with noone to stop them...well, it's not pretty.
And 173, RAGE. Can't say that they could destroy you in 5 seconds, but they didn't need to. The only "immoveable" robot we encountered. Quite frustrating really... |

When you really think about it, having a robot go for the one-pointers has a lot of advantages. Not only is it simpler, but the robot can be made much lighter and faster. You guys were just flying down the field it seemed! And also I'm sure you guys got done with the bot sooner than some of the teams with more complex bots which is a big advantage. |
