I can think of four reasons right off the bat:
MPLab
EasyC
Inventor
VAGCOM (car computer interface)

I'm thinking of making the plunge after the next CoreDuo speed bump hits the Macbook Pro, though my trusty Tibook still hauls the mail for everything except the above noted apps.
