Off-Season Event in Virginia

Hey,
I was wondering what everyone would like to see at an offseason event in Virginia. We wanted to hold it on August 4/5. Set up and practice Friday, competition Saturday. Would your team be interested. None of the details are set so anything can be changed. Also if you have any resources for how to host an event it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot for the input.

Note: I placed this in the general forum so that it would receive more attention than the threads in Off-Season event.

Where in VA? there is already an offseason in DC. If you need any help with anything specific just ask.

Cool, also I know your team is promoting VEX in Richmond right now. Did you want to hold a demo at the competition?

Re: Off-Season Event in Virginia

There have been many other off-season competitions in RVA planned over the years, including ROSi the past two. None of them have gotten off the ground, and I don't think that trend is going to end anytime soon. The area just doesn't have the money nor cooperation for it to work at the current time.

Good luck though.

I'm pretty sure that we would do a vex demo (although we may need to rebuild the vex bot )

Re: Off-Season Event in Virginia

If your interested in a Vex competition/demo at the capital clash or at the Virginia competition, we held a Vex competition at the IRI last year that was very successful (teams from CA to CT came and competed). This year we are creating another original game and having another open competition at the Indiana Robotics Invitational (post with details coming soon). If you guys are interested we will have a game (brand-new), fields, seeding/scoring software, etc and would love to help out any way we could to help in setting up a Vex competition that could be held in conjunction with your FRC tournament.

Feel free to message me with any questions!

The Capital Clash planning committee is still looking at locations and dates. Should have more details by mid-May.

I would suggest that anyone considering an off-season event contact their Regional Directors and/or Senior Mentor to let them know. They may be able to fill you in on what else is going on, especially if you will need a field.

Hey if your team has any questions about running a mini regional, just contact me or one of my fellow Tigertrons. We run the PARC and I'd be more than happy to answer your questions. I hope to make a sheet with some suggestions for you sometime soon.

We ran the Vex demo at the Capital Clash last year, and I'm almost certain would be willing to do it again this year!
