Re: 2006 Championship Divisions

Interesting thing (stop me if you've heard this one) - if you go to last year's championship page on first's website:

http://www.usfirst.org/robotics/2005/chevents.htm

And click on the pages with the listings for the divisions, you'll see a list of teams, including some with numbers in the 1900's. I may be mistaken, but I think that new teams this year have numbers over 1750 or so, leading me to believe that, even if they are still in flux, the official FIRST division lists are up!

Of course, I could be wrong, it could be some weird internet fluke.

Here are some quick spreadsheets. This "rumor" seems very plausible based upon what you see on the website, but you still can't count on it being 100% true. Great detective work, Kris! More to discuss!

You may have something here. My team last year 301 was in Curie. In the team list it is no longer there. This means that the lists have been updated. Still according to FIRST deadline sheet final payments are not due until April 14, so more team could still be added and the list is probably not finalized yet.

Re: 2006 Championship Divisions

I definatly think that you have something there...because 11 was in Newton last year (which is the 2005 list) but that list has teams that weren't in our division yet...so I'm thinking those are the divisions...but like someone said before, we have to wait till registration closes until it's official...but good job on finding that!

Re: 2006 Championship Divisions

Good work, Kris.

Divisional assignments look to be ABCD... yawn.

Oh, well. If FIRST did it a different way, some teams would email/call and complain like this:

(say this in a good witch voice, like Carol Kane in the Princess Bride)

"You did ABCD division selection the last 2 years, and this year it is DIFFERENT!! Why did you do that to us? aaaahhh! I'm melting!"

No... no one ever does that to the Team Support folks at FIRST!

Re: 2006 Championship Divisions

Wow, awesome find, if this list holds true, 67 will move from Newton, where we've been since divisions started, to Archimedes; which looks to be a very competitive division as well! Too bad Sir Charles will probably be on Newton if he returns.

What he's saying is that, if you take the URL provided by the 'Team List' links on the 2005 Championship page -- say http://www.usfirst.org/frc/map/index...division=curie for example, and replace the 2005 variable with 2006, you'll see the 2006 division assignments.

They match what y'all found on the 2005 list, but they list the correct dates for the event as well.

Also, as Rich mentioned, as lower-numbered teams continue to register, the ABCD assignment scheme means that all of the teams after a given new registrant will shift one division.

Be careful, there's a reason that FIRST hasn't posted publicly yet. This list will still change. I can guarantee there are a few very low numbers still in the pending area that can/will change things quite a bit.

I understand, i just noticed that 1902 has registered for the event, but yet, i don't see them in any division, that was a preempted statement i just made, please ignore my last statement.

Thank you

Re: 2006 Championship Divisions

Oh man.. all the divisions look pretty even. Curie and Gal look to have a little more horsepower behind them though.

But another thing.. none of the triplets are together and 25 fills the 4th division. This should be interesting.

111 + 1114 ?
Deadly or just downright confusing?!
