If I remember right 931 is <edit: nevermind, I guess I don't remember right! (see below)>, and the logo on their shirt involved some sort of sum in sigma notation. I don't know exactly what it was either though.

edit: I guess I'll add input on my team.

Well when I was a student on a team I thought our team name was very clever... "Club Sandwich". You see... the team comes from Sandwich Secondary School. To be honest we didn't really use it much in cheers or anything... it was just a fun name. This year they went through an absolute ton of restructuring and thought it was appropriate to come up with a new name, the "Sabre Bytes" - the school's sports teams are the "Sabres", and our mascot that has been used since 2002 is "Erbas" (Sabre.. spelled backwards! ) and it's just the same one that is used at sports events and pep rallies and such (very smelly...).

Hopefully they are done changing the team's name since the new shirts were so expensive (but they are really nice I must say).

Re: Maximizing On Your Name

How about bolt sizes? 6-32, 10-24, 10-24, 10-32, etc. This would be a great little giveaway for teams with screw size numbers!

they were right beside us at Waterloo -- so we practically memorized the equation.

Thanks to good ol' Kevin from team 1596 and his button collection!

our team number doesn't have too much significance to it -- other than it IS the answer to life. We've noticed a pattern...things we've done through the season someone match up to things that've happened on December 19th [not literally, but close enough] and smalls things that we do within in the team happen to match up to events that've taken place on the days we were born. It's hard to explain without getting into detail and such -- and if I got into detail...we'd be here forever!

But...here's something awesome I discovered!

1219 -- our original team number; guy's team number second year.
1309 -- our girl's team number in second year.

1 + 2 + 1 + 9 = 13
1 + 2 - 1 + 9 = 7

1 + 3 + 0 + 9 = 13
1 + 9 - 3 + 0 = 7

ooooooooh...it was a bit odd to say the least. But it was awesome none-the-less. I swear...I have a life, I have nightschool so I commute back and forth between home and nightschool -- an hr and a half there, and an hr and a half back -- with no friends on the bus, it makes you think a lot!

Re: Maximizing On Your Name

I thought 931 was Perpetual Chaos out of StL?? Did they change their name?

Um... 648 doesn't do anything with their number. We could have with our old number, 309. It was our Illinois area code. Back then our team name was Fab 5. Now it's 648 and QC Elite.

No, they are Perpetual Chaos.

I think Team Sigma is a nickname or something -- because I remember when they won an award at Waterloo they were called Team 931: Perpetual Chaos.

Yeah... when it comes to FIRST trivia... I'm never wrong. LOL. I've never heard of them called Team Sigma, but then again, I haven't seen them since StL last year.

Isn't team #1 the "Juggernauts".
Or was the plurifying "s" the only difference in name?

If anyone has any ideas as to a nice, creative name for 555 I'd love to hear them! (And I'm sure many of you do!)

We could always be "The Dominos Pizza 555 Deal Team"...

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your name is Triple Nickel!!!!! Don't name yourself after bad pizza!!!!

LOL There is a story behind this reasoning.
I was in NYC in 2005, and someone said (about your team when we asked about 555) "Oh, Triple Nickel"? And it stuck. You have to use that!!! It makes so much sense, and rolls right off the tongue.
Now, every time we talk about your team, we refer to you as Triple Nickle anyways, so just don't delay the inevitable.. Change it now!!! LOL

Re: Maximizing On Your Name

Our name doesn't come from our number but rather our location... We use the Metric system over here, Imperial is little used here nowadays.

Now if you swap the words "Metric system" around, you get "System Metric". Merge the m's to get Systemetric

I do however wake up at 7:59 when I'm not on the bus before that (i.e. Sat-Mon)

I like that one! It's catchy. You're right about the pizza though. The problem with Dominos Pizza is that it's good while you're eating it, and it's really easy to eat a lot of it, but as soon as you stop you regret it for the next few days. We learned that lesson the hard way at the Phoenix Regional last year...
