Re: Golden Ball

Anyone have a clip a the episode of Dexters Laboratory. The one where he sets all his robots free?

They run out into the street and start yelling "FREE! we're FREE!"

then a semi runs them all over?

Talking Re: Golden Ball

it would be sooo cool if google puts a little advertisement on their home website or gmail, like they did for the davinci code quest thingy. like, click here to track the golden ball!!!

I think the golden ball should start at google headquarters and end at manchester at the FIRST kick-off. that would definitely be cool.

do u think we should have a slogan/logo/button contest for this feat?

I think it would be cool if the ball passed through the 32 north american regional event sites during its journey, but of course that would make the journey much much longer.

For those who weren't in Atlanta (or who couldn't watch the webcast) ... what is this "golden ball" you speak of?

Sergey Brin (of Google fame) spoke during the finals about how Google might help FIRST during the off-season. He talked about how great everything was, but how do the robots feel? After the season and all, they just sit in a closet or something--so why not run a Golden Ball relay across the country? The robots get out, meet some other robots, get some fresh air...you get the idea.

Re: Golden Ball

What about letting the 33 Regionals (2006) Chairmans Award winners, drive their robot around with a "Golden Poof Ball" around Downtown Atlanta on the Wednesday before Nationals, with one bot shooting the ball into the other, so it doesn't touch human hands, Or better yet, have it on thursday, and friday morning, it arrives on 111's bot (Nats, Chairman Winner) and the ball is shot to Woodie Flowers douring the opening ceromonies.

Have six golden balls travel around douring the Regional Weeks for the previous chairman winners.

Hang on thats a bad idea, What about Isreal?????

O well, what do you guys think

Re: Golden Ball

Knowing Sergey Brin, this will happen in some way, shape or form. it may be all digital (ie, each day they have a team featured on the google home page, and you can track them across the world), but I'm willing to bet it will happen. Our team (as the Mountain View team) is going to try and work with Google to make it a reality.

I'm pretty sure the whole "golden ball" thing was a metaphor...you know for spreading the word of FIRST (the golden ball) to other people...although I could just be crazy

In FIRST, all the metaphors become reality. (Just like those changing color lights...i guarantee that will be part of the game next year)

Maybe it could be a way for teams to meet each other during off season or something.
