Summer Fundraiser Robot Camp

I am needing some advice from you that host a summer robotics camp for LEGO aged kids. Instead of reinventing the wheel, I am looking for successful programs that we can also do here in our state. I need advice for structure, advertisement, organization, equipment, etc.

If you don't mind sharing, I would appreciate the information. We would like to do a camp for a summer fundraiser.

Thanks,
Tonya Scott

Re: Summer Fundraiser Robot Camp

We've had fundraisers similar to that in the past. We've put on Lego Mindstorm camps for middle school aged kids. Basically we charged them $20. Then they came in around 8:00 in the morning and they were grouped in pairs or threes, got stuck with one of us as a mentor and given a choice between two problems to solve. Then we worked with them for the day until around 2:00 in the afternoon. It was pretty successful. We had around 30 kids at each session.

Carneige Mellon has a program called "Camp on a Disk". We used it last year for our LEGO Camp. The manual instructs you how to set up the camp and the missions. All you have to provide is the LEGOS.

Thanks Pat,
This is great stuff - I sent a link to our teacher/mentor, as she is planning to do a camp this summer and this would tie right into how our kids want to help.

It is very easy to use....unless someone was to come up with a program or use games from the previous years.
