My favorite thing: For the first time, our whole team stayed downtown. I loved watching peoples' faces their first time seeing the Peachtree Station escalators!

I knew that Einstein wouldn't be all about Newton...if you remember last year Archimedes was considered the toughest division and Newton won last year. This year Newton was considered the division to beat and they lost in the Finals.

That being said, it stands to say that even though a division might have 10 "powerhouse teams" those 10 teams have little chance to team up. 176 made sure of that in Newton. So when it comes to Einstein anything can happen.

Re: Everyones Favorite part of Nationals

My favorite part was the WFA ceremony, especially the entertainment provided by Dean Simmons and the Kamen Brothers. I understand the timing could have been better, relative to events on other fields. I was watching the webcast, so the timing didn't bother me.

Would it have been feasible to suspend activities on the other fields during the WFA ceremony?

My favorite part: Being the only one to stand up (when it wasnt one of our matches) and shout, "ARCHA".

Then no one would say anything back.

Then I'd say, "Come on people. ARCHA"

Then they finally said "MEDES".

ps: i also did this in the pits.

Re: Everyones Favorite part of Nationals

My favorite part was most definately a surprize. As I was sitting setting up a camera for the WFA ceremony I looked back and saw my brother walking down the steps the the Georgia Dome and then looked up to see my parents at the top of the steps. They hadn't told me they were coming and I was overwhelmed with happiness that they could finally see why I love the Championship so much.

My other favorite part was watching the lego league kids walking into the pits and seeing their faces light up with excitement. Nothing could be close to that, I reccomend that everyone next year watch a FLLer walk in and see thier smile.

Re: Everyones Favorite part of Nationals

i think the most awesome part of the comp... was a tie between two things

teaming up with the thunderchickens... only because we were all hanging out in GTR, and playing chicken fights in the pool... it was awesome.. lol

and taking a picture with the lego league robo whizards... that was awesome when seeing them smile and lookin up at us.. (litterally) lol.. one kid say "u better win!" i turned and said "well what if we dont?"... he just smiled and said "were the robo wizards... we use magic to win... u just cant beat that!!"... i couldnt stop laughing lol

Re: Everyones Favorite part of Nationals

It's hard to pick out what my favorite part was..but there are a few that stick out in my mind..

-Teaming up with 2 amazing teams (195 & 968)
-and thinking up / working out the 'A-Bomb' about 10 minutes before Eliminations started

-All the spirit and commotion of nationals..oh boy...it was my 3rd time there, and it really was better than I ever could have expected..
Aside from the fact that we had the honor of being able to play on Einstein
and that we made it to the Finals..where as Dave said, "the best of the best play"

Basically, I loved it..I loved all of it. I loved being able to meet so many new people. I loved seeing all of those fantastic robots. I loved sitting in the stands or on Einstein and scouting / thinking up possible strategies. I loved how unpredictable it was.

Yeah, there were a few mishaps that may have ticked me off, but there were a lot of positives.

I know exactly what you mean. calling it "Nationals" makes robotics sound like cheerleading or something. I call it the championships.

I would have to say my favorite part was our robot inspection. I have never had that much fun during inspection. Thanks Al.
I mostly enjoyed getting a chance to see old friends & meet some great new people.

I would have to say my favorite moments would be...

1. coming out of the tunnel and hearing the roar of the crowd, then looking up and seeing my brother cheering me on(he was our driver for our first 3 years and also made it to Einstein)
2. this was my first year being coach so the entire event was awesome and i wont forget this year
They did it in the Semi-final match 3 against us. Im not sure about the other one, but I had a clear view of it in match 3...

I would also have to agree with you, walking out of the tunnel for the robot parade/drum coor thing was amazing. Listening to the crowed chanting gali-leo was also simply awesome.

Another aspect was being able to be on Einstein with my friends, to echo tom. Being with Greg and Chris was amazing as it always is, but facing Corey, Tom and Matt, all three really good friends of mine, was just awesome. The fact that the week before 5 of us were sitting on greg's porch, talking about nationals, and then being out there....was the most incredible feeling ever.

Also, Dylan, I want to say that you guys were an amazing alliance partner, and we couldnt have made it that far without you. great job!

Re: Everyones Favorite part of Nationals

my favorite part of nationals was on Thursday & Friday when i went around and asked at least 20 teams per division how their year went, and what was the highlight of their year. One of my roles on our team is team identity/communications and being able to get to know a variety of teams and seeing how each team is similar and quite different was really amazing.

Re: Everyones Favorite part of Nationals

there were so many good parts! between dancing with MOE, scoring our highest...and tied with highest at nationals/championships with 136, cheering with MOE and CIA to the semi's of galileo (which was AMAZING, since last year our robot was less than perfect and broke all the time..and this year we made it to eliminations while being ranked in the 40s...incredible [thank you so much again MOE love you guys..and thanks for the miracle towel]), and just being able to cheer my heart out and keep my voice and experience something great.

1. Haveing a great converstation with Amadou
2. While we were eating at a resturant, one of our team members said they had never eaten in a resturant that had menus before.
3. The night before we left, the kids gathered up all our food (we bought bread and sandwich stuff and apples, etc for lunches) and they made a bunch of luch sacks and gave them to the homless people as we walked across "the hill".

I'm alwas so proud of all the great people at a FIRST event.

Has anyone commented on the National Anthem during opening ceremonies or the drumline before the finals on Einstein?

I thought they were both incredible.

Re: Everyones Favorite part of Nationals

Without a doubt my favorite part of the Championship...

Down one match to nothing, up against the wall... 25 --- 968 --- 195
Possibly the most important match of their lives...

296 - 522 - 217 .... looking to make a repair.... oops no master link...
25-968-195 furnish the master link to help out ...

Win or lose now... they are winners...

You three teams (25-968-195) need to look back on that decision and see what it really meant...remember it the REST of your lives... You had a great alliance and played extremely well but THAT action showed me who you all are inside...and you are pretty special in my book...

Those that taught you along the way deserve great praise...don't forget to thank them for helping you to become the incredible young men and women you have become....

NOWHERE but FIRST... the value of Gracious Professionalism...

I mean no disrespect to our fine Championship Alliance Winners here...
(296-522-217)you guys were great and performed incredibly, both on the field and off...

but my champions on that Saturday were 25-968-195
