It's only one sheet, and it folds about 4' from the pillow end, so when you get into the bed, it's too short for legs - meaning you ahve to get out of bed and make it before you can sleep.

This is one of the best pranks for hotel rooms. But it doesn't work if you're in a private home, because if you shortsheet the hostess, there's no way you can put all 50 of her stuffed animals back on the bed the way they're supposed to be, and she'll know at a glance that someone has been messing with her bed.

Short-sheeting is best done to the person who has to stay out latest, because they come back to the room and everyone else is "asleep," the lights are out, and the victim tries so hard to be very quiet as they get ready for bed, until the attempt to climb in. (Of course, the "sleepers" will all be helpful and make the bed properly after the laughter.)

Another prank, putting Vaseline on doorknobs, has probably gone out of fashion along with round doorknobs. Sounds like deadbolts are performing the same function, however.
