Has anyone thought of this college course before?
I am nearing the end of my journey here at SUNY Canton of my 1 year certificate. I could, come back for another certificate and turn them into a associates. But i was told to look into this program and it really sparked a interest in me ever since i read about it this morning. So i ask all the readers of CD, have you seen or thought of this before and what is your feedback about this?
Also to my knowledge, no FIRST robotics team at this college. http://www.alfredstate.edu/alfred/Ro...D=1296424 200 Last edited by Alex Cormier : 10-05-2006 at 16:21. |

Re: Has anyone thought of this college course before?
Seems mighty interesting to me. I had never seem a program like this before, but I figured there would have to be something out there, what with all the new robotic assembly machines.
I'd be interested in a program like this, I think. (I've still got two years of high school) Be nice if it was offered at an in-state college, but it may be and I just don't know about it. I think that FIRST kids would have an advantage, for many of the topics covered are learned during the build season. It's suprising that the school doesn't have a team; this line seems mighty FIRSTish- "Emphasis is placed on analysis and troubleshooting of system faults as well as safety and craftsmanship." Thanks for the info. JH |

Re: Has anyone thought of this college course before?
Thats GREAT.
Our School/Academy actually offer a similar series of courses. 1.Engineering Systems 1 and 2 2.Advance Engineering/Robotics I guess the course in Alfred State is more focused on the use of robotics in daily life or something along those lines. While in our school, its about creating an interests in students for science and technology and helping them find there goals. ~Imad |

Just in case you are interested, the other Alfred (University) recently posted this press release:
Alfred University students organizing FIRST competition If your studies go well, maybe you'll have time to hook up with Mirza and Jeremy. |

I have read about this program before, and it sounds very interesting.
Team 84 has a couple of students at the school, if you are ever looking for contacts. |
