"Delphi Packard's Erin Shirley, senior industrial engineer, in the Spring 2006 issue of "Woman Engineer."
Shirley was one of five female engineers featured in the Equal Opportunity Publications, Inc. (EOP) magazine, a career-guidance and recruitment publication for women, members of minority groups and those with disabilities.
Terrence Mosley, Southeast Operations quality supervisor and executive team sponsor for Mississippi's FIRST Robotics Team, recommended Shirley to the magazine as an up-and-coming engineer. Shirley is the team leader for Provine High School's Rambunctious Rams, and has fully embraced serving as a mentor and role model to the team's female students."

Congratulations to Erin on receiving this honor! She is a wonderful role model and mentor to the kids on Team 462. Before she transferred from Warren, OH down to a Delphi Packard plant in Mississippi, she spent her rookie year as a FIRST mentor with us here on Team 48. I fondly remember her days with us; her spirit and energy were off the charts! I had the pleasure of spending some time with Erin and the rest of 462 down in Atlanta this season - her enthusiasm for FIRST is shared by all of her teammates. They've definitely got a good thing going down in Mississippi.

Although I would be careful what you post from their intranet, I know if I were to post information that was on our intranet @ work I would promptly be fired regardless of how positive the information was!

I see no problem with what was posted. No sensitive information was divulged, and this article recognizes a Delphi employee for her good work as an engineer and her support of the local FIRST team. I find it hard to believe they'd take issue with that.

Woman Engineer might have a problem with a snippet of their article being posted here, but I imagine they'd instead appreciate the exposure this thread brings to their publication within this online community.

Matt - your advice is well founded...I did think about the concerns with posting it and I checked to make sure it was ok to use the intranet reference before I posted it. I was also very careful to list the source to give it proper credit, since I didn't have a chance to check directly with "Woman Engineer." The posted article is really much longer, but I pulled out only the specific FIRST reference for the same reason.
