Re: Drive Motors

We used 4 small cims in the KOP gearboxes, like the last five people or so. Next year, I hope we can get a couple cool multi-speed transmissions put together... *eyes 716*...

Re: Drive Motors

We used 2 small + 2 big cim motors in the AM 2 speed. Worked beautifully, and we're hoping to make a 2 speed we designed.

Re: Drive Motors

2 small cims in 2 KOP trannies <- bad idea, too slow, too weak, saved weight though!

For next year, 4 small cims between 2 custom made 2 speed transmissions that we're currently designing.

Re: Drive Motors

4 small CIMs with a custom speed reducer for each, driving custom omniwheels like this and this. A fun summer 2005 project for learning about holonomic drive, but not an effective propulsion scheme for Aim High.

Like most other holonomic robots we were very maneuverable, but too easily pushed off-target. Here is a shot of our robot in action against a good opponent.

Re: Drive Motors

4 small CIM's. Two per custom made fully closed off HDPE Gear Boxes. (the box was HDPE, not the gears).

Re: Drive Motors

4 small CIMs in KOP gearbox, 5.7 ft/s. Worked quite nicely. Next year, maybe either 4 Sm. CIM in DeWalts, or 4 Sm. CIM in a 33 style four speed. (Although I'd really like to do 4 Sm. CIM + 2 FP in AM planetaries + 33 style four speed --> unrealistic)

4 small CIMs, 2 per in our dual speed gearbox. Same design as 2005 so no new white paper this year.

Re: Drive Motors

We had pneumatic dog shifting (shifton the fly) tranmission with completely custom designed and manufactured gearboxes. We used 4 CIM's and 2 FPs.

Re: Drive Motors

Cyber Blue used the traditional 4 small cims
We were cool and shifted with servo motors (They don't like to shift on the fly very well though...)

Re: Drive Motors

We used 4 small CIMs on DeWalt transmissions, in a holonomic configuration. It was a bit of overkill, as we never really utilized the shifting feature. It was cool to say we had a shifting omni-drive robot, though, even if we didn't use it
