Emergency!! Help trouble shoot!!

Alright we pulled the robot out today for a demonstration and a final check before we head up to Bean town Blitz on Sat for the most part everything seemed to work correctly except we kept losing radio signal now and again finally watched do this over again until i noticed a pattern.

It would work alright for the first minute or so then the signal would come and go intermittently work for a few then quit for a few. Finally after a few mins have passed the signal would disappear altogether.

we also lost control over certain aspects of the robot, i.e. a switch would run a relay fwd but not rev.

we are going to try swapping the one or both of the radios tomorrow if we can borrow them from one of the other local teams.

So any suggestions, or comments would be greatly appreciated we don't have much time to get this working before Bean town but heres hoping we can!

Thanks In Advance!!

Re: Emergency!! Help trouble shoot!!

Make sure you are using the correct year OI and radios. Try changing serial cables. Get away from fluorescent lights. Try changing team number to something greater than 2048 then changing the channel. Try reloading code.

Re: Emergency!! Help trouble shoot!!

Stupid question, but were all the batteries charged? Robots do very funny things with low batteries. Also make sure you're using the right power adapter for the OI and haven't swapped it with something else. Also, also, if you're seriously thinking it's a radio issue, tether up the robot and run it around in the same fashion. That will tell you pretty quickly whether it's the radio or not. Just basic troubleshooting, really. Eliminate things methodically and one by one. Shotgun toubleshooting often just leaves you more confused.
