VEX Shaft Encoder Kit

I got an idea for a X-Y table for routers. If I use 10-32 threaded rods, nuts, and screws, and I wish to have one of the carriages move exactly two inches, how do I program the encoder in Easy C 2.0? Is it possible to control the X-Y table from the computer instead of the R/C transmitter or writing a program to control the X-Y table?

Re: VEX Shaft Encoder Kit

As long as its serially controlled. Look at the examples, it sends serially TO the computer, its not much different to RECIEVE from it. YOu just have to send it a position, and the vex will control the x-y.

Should be able to make a program for it too. Check cnczone.com (i think) and see if there's some free programs, then you can see what the comm protocol is and write your software for that. That way it would be fairly easy to do.
