Overall, attendees were very interested in what FIRST was trying to do. Some had no clue that FIRST existed. Others had heard of FIRST. There were a couple of attendees we talked to that wanted to know in detail what it took to start a team. Time, money, teacher resources, how to approach sponosrs, how to present to school boards, what kind of students etc...My guess is there will be a new team from eastern NY state next year. (Around Schenectady, but I cannot remember the name of the town off hand.)
The interest was split between FRC and FVC. VEX was looked at as an inexpensive FRC. I explained VEX was a great tool for the classroom, a great tool for prototyping but the real fun was in the machinging and unlimited use of materials (Within the Rules of course). That seemed to catch the interest of the the manufacturing guys in attenedance.
For a real business to business trade show, and the type of personel that EASTEC attractted, the response was better than I had expected.
