I would be a big supporter of filtering by tags.

Re: Too many photos with CD-Media?

A decision on the approved posting rules for the Photoshop contest pictures would also be good. That is a gray area, because the pictures obviously aren't of a technical nature, but they support a contest that has been adopted by part of the community. Should those be posted to CD-Media, or instead should they only be embedded within the post? Or perhaps should they be hosted offsite and not posted to CD at all?

Just remember what you post reflects you, your team, and FIRST.
I agree with you, this isn't MySpace. Some of the pictures uploaded look as if that's where they belong. Now, I understand that some are WAI pics (heh, should probably get one for myself, actually), but I think that Brandon's idea is good. People are notified that they have too many WAI pics and have to delete the old ones.

Also, like Brandon said, it's the offseason, so there aren't build season and/or robot pics being uploaded every day. I belong to a few forums for television shows, and the same sort of stuff happens when it's rerun season. Silly, sometimes off-topic threads are started simply due to the fact that there really isn't that much action.

But Kim said it perfectly. Always remember that on these forums, you are representing your team, your sponsors, and FIRST.

Re: Too many photos with CD-Media?

well, let's see - right now in the portal we have Dave playing poker, Dave with a caption about why he doesn't play with pipebombs, beach wear, and a FIRST logo with the square in the middle. Things could be getting a little strange or maybe it is just me.

Re: Too many photos with CD-Media?

I definitely think some of the Photoshop Contest pictures are getting out of hand. Perhaps the contests should be sponsored on their own site, without affiliation to ChiefDelphi? Or anything that is tagged "Photoshop Contest" could need to be approved?

I would definitely be a fan of being able to filter "tags I don't want to see". I also like David55's idea of linking batches of photos so that 20 pics from one event don't take up all of the space on the first page. Maybe all files uploaded by one person at the same time with the same tag can be "albumed"?

And by the way...

Well, with filtering by tags, you could easily filter out "Photoshop Contest" and not have to see any of them.
