Re: Buy a painting of your team number!

Honestly, I hope this person sells every last one of them. These things are awesome and the internet makes it possible.

I think things like this are great. For example, http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com/ is another example of how the internet can be used - this guy has slowly but surely traded up from one red paperclip to bigger and better things.

Re: Buy a painting of your team number!

umm I'm not quite sure why these are worth so much, if i went out and painted a number on a piece of canvas i wouldn't get more than 2 bucks for it, it looks like a waste of money, if you have access to a high DPI Plotter or printer you can make even more awesome prints of your team number.

from the one's still available that'd be 16. From the original, that'd be 1. They have the handy dandy calculator, that takes the number out of 1000! And then you have a 70% discount! woo hoo. Oh look, it went to 60%. Who bought 100 of these? I don't even understand payment for it signed. 200 DOLLARS for a board?

kind of ironic that the one that requires the least amount of work, is the one that someone paid most for.

Min. price: $40.
haha, this is the kind of thing that makes me laugh.

Re: Buy a painting of your team number!

I just heard a rumor that number 391 was left blank by accident (a mistake by the artist)

this makes the blank 391 painting very rare: it is presently valued by Llyods of Lundon at $72,395,000 (US)

This principle is often quoted in Latin: Res tantum valet quantum vendi potest - A thing is worth only what someone else will pay for it.

Back in the day (and probably even today in someone's Latin classroom) this was one of the quotes that students memorized. It is still a favorite of financial advisors, and many fathers.

The "res tantum" principle is closely related to my grandmother's favorite adage: A fool and his money are soon parted. Purchasers of the subject paintings certainly prove that one.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

Re: Buy a painting of your team number!

Seems to me that someone could make even more money by figuring out what font they used and printing off tons of identical signs and selling them for $20 on the internet.

You'd just have to advertise your site equally as well as this other site.

Re: Buy a painting of your team number!

I was actually considering buying one for the $60 or so.

However, 84 is currently at $458. So, forget that idea. I'll doodle on paper.
