AutoCAD Mechanical - New Layer Creation

I can't create a new layer in an existing DWG file with the AutoCAD Mechanical version we got with our kits this year. I open the "Layer Functions" dialog, press Create and get "No existing layer selected". What gives? There are a bunch of other layers in that dialog that I didn't create. I wish I had normal AutoCAD :-(

Re: AutoCAD Mechanical - New Layer Creation

It's been a while since I've used Mechanical. However, I think it wants to base the new layer's settings off an existing layer. So you need to select a layer for it to copy.

Normal AutoCAD does this as well, actually. It's just that it bases the new layer off your currently selected layer.

ya acad makes a copy of the layer you have selected when you create a new one. just select layer0 and it should all work
