Re: Best Robots of 2006
Okay, my top 5, in no particular order.
254/968. My reason for choosing this pair isn't necessarily the dominant ramp shooting, or the killer autonomous, but the simplicity and elegance of the shooter/hopper design. It worked so well, had a high capacity, seemed pretty simple, was speedy, not much else you could wish for. 469. This robot was so amazingly, awe-inspiringly, crazily, scary fast and accurate. If you left them alone for just two seconds, bam sixty points. The ball pickup was fast and effective, it looked like it was pretty easy for the human player to throw in balls, and once it was loaded, a quick zip to the goal, unload at insane speed, repeat. 217. The Thunderchickens were kick-butt for many reasons. The hopper just didn't jam, the shooter fired at a decent rate, it was accurate, and the defense was amazing. Triplets. Loaded from the ground and the human player, did both quite well. They shot quickly and accurately, they were nearly immovable. Being champions of three regionals proves the effectiveness of the design. 25. The human player loaded it pretty quickly. It didn't jam. (As far as I know) The turret mounted shooter was speedy and extremely effective, delivering volleys with amazing accuracy. Just great. |

Re: Best Robots of 2006
there were many good robots this year, i really liked 1038's design... really potent shooter.
i also liked 393, they had a really powerful drive train (our robot is able to pull up its wheels, and plop on the ground, theres truck bedliner on the bottom for more friction, and at max weight, 393 pushed us like we were nothing...) anyhow, thats my 2 bits |

Re: Best Robots of 2006
1213 was awesome.
They were simple, very effective, and very robust. They were a solid shooter and could play some excellent D. Among all of the great teams that were at IRI we were second seed. Thats showing you something. |

Re: Best Robots of 2006
I loved Team 222's bot (a ramp launcher) that fired to reflect the shot off the top of the goal. It fell on some bad luck, but it made it to championships and I was really hoping it could have gone somewhere during the later matches.
I also liked Team 222 overall because of the hours some of our boys at 1885 (including me and lordtalps) and the guys at 222 spent playing hackie-sack at the VCU regional. Memorable times for sure. ![]() Last edited by thegathering : 07-08-2006 at 11:11. |

Re: Best Robots of 2006
No order:
team 25, great shooter, fast, accurate, great auto mode and they can play great defense team 111, awesome auto mode, fast and accurate team 254/968, fast, accurate, great auto modes, range, loading capabilities, and ball storage, though we had similar robots, they had an awesome drive team, so no offense to our guys, but i put them ahead of us. But in my opinion, all robots were great, and i consider all of them to be best robots of 2006. |
