An apologize to CD members

I recently had a talk with a good friend/mentor about the Mentor of the Year Nominations and the entire contest. I have come to the realization that my name should have not been included as a nominee since I am the lead for the organization. The reason my name came on this list was because someone email a nomination and I decided to put all 4 nominations I recieved in the running for the award. When the list of nominees came out, some members though since it is my first year as a mentor and the lead for the MU! organization, my name should not have been on the list. When I heard the news today about this, I agree with these members and have decided to take my name off for the Mentor of the Year contest. I agree that these mentors who have been in FIRST for a long time should be recognize for their achievements and successes that they have contributed to their teams. In no way was I trying to take the "limelight" away from these mentors, I was just including all the nominations that I received in the email for the award. Again, I sincerely apologize to my fellow mentors and the CD community regarding this matter.

Re: An apologize to CD members

As a practical matter, I doubt that the implications of that potential conflict of interest would have been far-reaching or grave. You did the right thing by eliminating the possibility anyway, but there's really no need to apologize, since nobody was disadvantaged in any way. I wouldn't worry about it, and I'm sure that your intentions are only the best.

Re: An apologize to CD members

I think it's very nice that you have the humility and determination to fix what you feel you have wronged. When you do something wrong, turn around, fix it, and then apologize, you have scored maturity points. I'd probably throw in a bonus there.

That aside, I think you did the right thing and I don't think you affected anyone deeply but as Tristan said, you've eliminated the possibility of it happening.
You've gained some respect in my book .
