Re: Snakes on a Plane

This is one movie I am looking forward to seeing just because it looks so incredibly ridiculous and Samuel L. Jackson is gonna kick some... snakes? The trailer and concept itself seems like one of those bad old Sci-Fi B movies that they rip on Mystery Science Theatre 3000.

Re: Snakes on a Plane

I still say Chinese movies based on Ancient China are the best.

And if you haven't seen "House of Flying Daggers" you have so missed out.

"Snakes on a Plane" sounds like one of those frustrating movies, where you become restless, after 5 minutes. As for your idea...I agree with Matt. Just make sure that if you really want to do it, then do it before even the previews begin. After that, let the rest of the people watch the movie. Because the movie will most likely be more annoying, and hence make you funnier . And remember, you are giving your money away. To the horrible movie, really.

For anyone who goes, enjoy .

Re: Snakes on a Plane

I have been waiting for this movie to come out ever since I first heard about it back in February (when Wired magazine named it the "Worst Movie of 2006" - which is particularly prescient, when you consider that at the time of publication 2006 had not even started yet). I have been following the net parodies of the trailer with glee (some of my favorites are here, here and here - to see more, just check out YouTube or iFilm, and do a search on "Snakes On A Plane").

If you are wondering if you should go and see this movie or not, then let me suggest a few simple litmus tests to determine if you have the appropriate psychological appreciation for such a cinematic production:

If you were able to actually keep paying attention to Plan 9 From Outer Space for more than the first seven minutes of the film, then Snakes On A Plane is for you.

If you scoff at episodes of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 because they are not creative enough in their abuse of the original lame plots, then this is a film you will love.

If you understand that Peter's suggestion about bringing rubber snakes to the movie and crying out "snakes in a movie theatre!!!" is exactly the right thing to do, then you need to grab a handfull of rubber cobras, and prepare to be entertained.

If you recognize the film "Eegah!" as one of the truly outstanding highlights of Richard Kiel's illustrious career, then Snakes On A Plane is right up your proverbial alley.

If you show up at a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with a bag full of toast and dressed in white boxers and t-shirt, then we can count on where you will be spending every Friday night for the next 10 years - at the midnight screenings of Snakes On A Plane.

If you liked Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes, then just give up now - get your sleeping bag and five bags of Tostitos, and go camp out right now so you will be first in line to get your tickets for the opening show of Snakes On A Plane.

If you go to this movie expecting to see a cinematic work of art, then expect to be surprised (and in the distinct minority).

If you go to this movie expecting the audience to remain totally silent and never voice their approval of the overwhelming badness of this film, then you need to go off in the corner and join those six other people that just don't have a clue.

I thought it was the highlight of Archie Hall Jr's career myself, but hey, MST3K is right up my ally, so I guess Snakes on a Plane isn't for me.

I personally skipped the white boxers, and t-shirt myself, but I did throw the playing cards, and toast, and used the other things in my "bag of "stuff"" at the show when required.

Horray for midnight showings (Saturdays) at Harvard Square in Boston.
(They still run there I think - Check it out if you are ever in Boston. Lowes Theater - Harvard Square.)

Re: Snakes on a Plane

My sister first told me about this, and I started laughing.. Hard. Then when I saw it for myself.. over and over again (yeah.. I went to the movies a lot this month and last), I just... couldn't quite understand.

Although I hope it doesn't get a cult following like RHPS (Because.. well you can only have one, otherwise, it's no longer special), I think it'll ... who am I kidding. I doubt this movie is going to last long in theaters.. and out of them.

It's too late. There already is a cult following. There are already many, many fansites, such as Snakes On A Blog, as well as some LiveJournal groups. This movie has become a huge internet meme in the past few months, especially on LJ.

Gee, thanks . *After he (nearly) scared me to death with his toy snakes last year. But it's all in good fun, or at least they say so.

Re: Snakes on a Plane

See i actually think that all of you will be surprised on how good this movie will be.
I mean, i think they knew everyone would bash it.
So they'd have to make it very good.
I mean, look at some of the other movies that have came out that people really liked that were horrible:
Anacondas:Hunt for the Blood Orchid (ha a another snake movie ha)
Herbie:fully loaded
The Terminal
T3
anything by the Wayans brothers that has came out since Scary Movie 2

So you see, this movie is destined to be good.
Sam made a movie a while back that sort of "flopped" called formula 41 or something like that.
People said it was horrible.
But it was an awesomely funny movie.
I mean how can you go wrong with Samuel L. Jackson in a kilt beating people up with golf clubs along with a witty British guy.
Come on haha
I will go see snakes on a plane for sure.

Re: Snakes on a Plane

It's movies like Snakes on a plane that make my summer worthwhile. Plus Samuel Jackson is in it, they needed to bring him back after he died in Episode 3.

Re: Snakes on a Plane

The first thing I thought of when I saw this movie was Disney World....

They have the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" ride where they use air jets to make it feel like there are mice on the floor.

Now we just need to wait and look at the papers...you know that at least one theater will have the guts to do some sort of air jet rig to make it just that much more enjoyable
