You do realize that www.example.com and example.com are
intended to be distinct, right? The www subdomain is conventionally used for most traffic, but there might be a good reason to redirect a request for example.com to intranet.example.com, or northamerica.example.com, or mail.example.com, or to a page that lets you choose between www and any of the above. The point being, if FIRST didn't specify that they wanted that redirected, it's not MV's fault that it doesn't exist. It might not be a bad idea for MV to tell FIRST (as a courtesy) that they might want the redirect, but there's no basis to believe that MV is stupid.
