As long as it isn't run through steam I will be happy.

Re: Check out Valve's new mindblowing game "Portal"

I don't know why you guys have such a problem with Steam. I've been playing CS since 1.3 with the WON authentication and everything. I've never had a problem with it, except for the whole playing in offline mode, but I don't really care about that. It's a great way for the developers to get their games to the players without any middle-man-money-making publisher.

Re: Check out Valve's new mindblowing game "Portal"

Once you already have the game steam is anoiying, my problem is that i had it crash alot when i had it installed and i also played mostly offline and that caused alot of issues for me, steam wont stop me from getting a game but i still wont like having to deal with it.

Re: Check out Valve's new mindblowing game "Portal"

Ya, it causes a lot of crap at LANs, because some people forget to connect to steam before leaving, so some people are scurrying around because Steam wants to update games before you play.

Re: Check out Valve's new mindblowing game "Portal"

Have you ever tried to set up a program like HL2 on a comp with no Internet connection currently and the closest one is dial up? Steam is a pain for dial up, wont bug me as much anymore, I have high speed now, woot. Yet steam locks out all dial up users.
Although I have heard those turret sound effects before, I have also seen turrets that shoot and look nearly exactly like that, from a game also made by valve.... hmm HL2...

Ya, that turret sound was also mentioned in another forum where I got this from. Hopefully it will change in the release.

Re: Check out Valve's new mindblowing game "Portal"

The game is based on this one, called "Narbacular Drop". Playing this is basically playing portal without the fancy graphics

You can download Narbacular drop for free. It was made by a bunch of students, and as soon as valve saw it, they hired the entire production team. VERY cool stuff.

Hope you guys have as much fun playing it as I did

P.S. If their site is down, Here are their external download links.

(Filecloud is by far the easiest to download from.)
