Once you already have the game steam is anoiying, my problem is that i had it crash alot when i had it installed and i also played mostly offline and that caused alot of issues for me, steam wont stop me from getting a game but i still wont like having to deal with it.

Ya, it causes a lot of crap at LANs, because some people forget to connect to steam before leaving, so some people are scurrying around because Steam wants to update games before you play.

Have you ever tried to set up a program like HL2 on a comp with no Internet connection currently and the closest one is dial up?
 Steam is a pain for dial up, wont bug me as much anymore, I have high speed now, woot. Yet steam locks out all dial up users.Although I have heard those turret sound effects before, I have also seen turrets that shoot and look nearly exactly like that, from a game also made by valve.... hmm HL2... Ya, that turret sound was also mentioned in another forum where I got this from. Hopefully it will change in the release.
