It is indeed an interesting movie. I saw it in both IMAX and regular theater.
IMAX experience was amazing, mainly because of the awesome music by John Williams. Regular theater experience was not that good. I recommend IMAX though.
finally.... SUPERMAN RETURNS!

How exactly did they do that? Did they stop the movie and say "okay, now put your glasses on?" and then resume?

I've not had a chance to see it yet, but there's an indicator that pops up on the screen that lets you know when to wear the glasses and, presumably, when to take them off. The scenes shown in 3D are 'shot' entirely by CGI, as it's not yet possible to create 3D live action prints from anything beside an IMAX 3D camera, as far as I'm aware. If the whole movie were in 3D, in any case, the film would be too long for most IMAX theaters to put into their projectors.

Re: So...What Movie Did You Just Watch?

I have yet to see an IMAX movie (i think) but I did buy "NASCAR: The IMAX Experience" on DVD recently and I wish I had a chance to see it on the big screen in an IMAX theater. It was cool seeing it at a friends house with surround sound and the bass rumbling of the engines, but would have been way better at the theater.

That's the last movie I saw btw, besides Cars at the theater which was absolutely stunning in terms of it's graphics and it's story line. (even though you knew what was going to happen, it's meant for kids anyways who don't need twisted sub plots to enjoy a movie for what it is).

That's why there is limited suspense stories (how adult suspense stories are defined anyways) marketed to kids. I mean what? Disney treats orphan kids as suspense stories, but we all know how they end (The Lion King, Bambi.. etc. etc.) The kids grow up and become great leaders.

"Real" suspense stories aimed at the adult market don't always turn out happily ever after like that. I wonder why that is?!?

Case in point, Rent. A little more like real life than any Disney movie, but also so far fetched in terms of what I am used to in my life that I thought it was a bad movie.
But.. eh.. I know I'm in the minority when it comes to not liking the movie RENT so it seems.

I have to watch it again though. I missed some of it I guess talking to some people who love it.

But, it was better than Monty Python and The Holy Grail.
I just don't understand English Humor. (again, in the minority group on that one too it seems) LOL

As much as I rag on NASCAR (left turns just don't get my motor running, as it were), this was a fun movie to see in IMAX. All movies are fun to see in IMAX, really. The only one I've ever seen that I disliked was Titanica. It's really boring.

RENT is a bad movie. From everything I've seen, it's a bad show, too. The music, when taken on its own, is pretty good, but the premise of the whole thing is absurd. Jonathan Larson wrote a musical by relying wholly upon stereotypes of 1980's 'counterculture,' something he knew practically nothing about; though even that may be giving him too much credit since there's been some question about whether some of RENT's plot was plagiarized from another book. I do own the movie, but only for "Take Me or Leave Me." The rest is pretty awful.

Re: So...What Movie Did You Just Watch?

I saw Superman Returns in a normal theatre a few weeks ago. It was okay, but I really didn't like John Williams score, as it sounded way too much like his ones for the Star Wars movies to me. I still can't believe how expensive it was to make, though. There was a lot of CG, but almost $300 million USD seems excessive for any movie.

Some of that cost has come from the movie being in production for a very long time now. They went through many script writers, one of them being Kevin Smith. At one point, Tim Burton was on board to direct it too. Wikipedia explains it pretty well Apparently, before Singer even came on board, around $150 million had already been spent on a movie that didn't even exist yet.

Re: So...What Movie Did You Just Watch?

2 recent movies:

Took the kids to see Monster House. It was better than I expected. Kids liked it, and so did I. The storyline was unique and not as predictable as other kids shows.

Got Capote from the Library (we rarely rent, as my wife and kids to the library weekly). Philip Seymour Hoffman was outstanding... amazingly good performance in portraying a unique person in Truman Capote. He did such a good job that I detested him (he was AMAZINGLY selfish) while still caring how Capote made it through to the end of the book he was writing. Usually, if I don't like a lead character in a movie, my interest wanes. His acting was so good that I wanted to keep watching.
